Granny Flat, studio or backyard bungalow?
Comments (16)We call them Granny Flats. This is mostly because they are used to extra living area & space for family members to soften the cost of living. Some councils are now processing applications for Granny Flats, Studios, Bungalows etc, in shorter time frames to allow the structures to be built with less stress. Frame Steel offer a range of designs to cater for most council regulations & provide custom kits....See MoreHome office/spare room
Comments (13)One suggestion I'd make - shelves above a bed are very hard to reach, without standing on the bed. There are many beds though that fold up into a wall cabinet, so take up the thickness of a mattress/frame when folded up. It also makes for a tidier office when it's not a guest room. You may have to hunt for a fold-out that hinges on the long side - most are hinged on the short side (i.e. hinge under the pillow). If you can't find the right unit you might be able to swap with the shelves behind the door, or on the opposite far wall. You'd then have to rejig the other shelves you want above the bed, or move the bed unit the depth of the shelves out from the wall, or rotate it 90 degrees to parallel the wall to the credenza. I'm trying to work out exactly the same problem in my study as we speak :-) albeit with a different floorplan. Good luck!...See MoreCalifornian Bungalow - covered patio or garage studio conversion?

Carefully plan a pergola to allow winter sun but block summer heat, and add a deciduous climber to assist....See MoreInterior design studio transformation
Comments (7)Now this, I can get behind! Literally and metaphorically. What a transformation! the 'before' images take me to a place where I'm sitting in a boring corporate 70's office making 80 calls a day only to receive a fax from a prospect to say they liked me but aren't going ahead with the deal (heartbreak). The metal cabinets scream ATO/IRS and I can almost feel the them breathing behind my neck as to why I haven't yet lodged my returns. Fast forward, this new space is full of colour, life, a sleek modern touch and a great vibe! Love it x100...See Moresiriuskey
