My wife dislikes our stainless splash back with a passion...... Next time will be tiles, glass, etc. but not stainless. Personal choice, as I like the stainless..... Cleaning is cleaning to me so I'd go for aesthetics first as long as its hardwearing.

I'm about to put a cooktop on the 2.3 x 900 peninsular (island with only one free end ( in my new galley kitchen. I am using an induction top so it can be fitted flush with the benchtop surface, allowing me to use the whole area as benchtop when not in use. I intend to have bar stolls on the living room side for entertaining. My joiner has suggested making a beautiful, thin timbercover to go over the glass induction surface for added protection. I just need to decide on down draft induction hob or a ceiling casette. My main aim is to remove the smelly cooking smells from my unit. The smell from one evening of cooking indian chicken curry currently lasts at least a week! Any advice?

We have midtone engineered timber floors throughout and I love them. We are not precious about the floor and it does get wet from spills and drips in the kitchen but after 10 years it still looks great. Ive not lived with polished concrete but just spent 2 weeks in an AirBnb with them. I ended up using all their yoga mats as support in the kitchen as it was cold to stand on (winter) and really hard on the legs.

I am trying to decide between waterproof laminate and hybrid floor.
