With the deck being quite narrow have you considered taking the timber to the edge of the deck and not using a coping stone. This will give you a sleeker more clean lined look. With regard 90 verses 140 decking. We use mainly 140mm now, but with the deck only being 2 metres wide this may look out of place. A lot will depend on your surroundings. If the deck hasn't been started yet I would also suggest that you run your decking the short length, this will draw your eye along the lines and give an illusion of the deck being wider than it is and looking up it not as long. With regard cupping it very much depends on the timber selected and you really need to screw down rather than nail. For almost all of our decking I specify and recommend Accoya for its stability. I am sure that it will be available in Australia.

we can't read the dimensions on the plans but it appears that the block isn't flat so the placement of access to the rear is affected by the slope and the reason for access...do you want/need to have an extra garage with driveway into the far back yard or just vehicle access for occasional gardening or pool maintenance? and this plan has the most exposure to the east and west which, depending on your climate, can be the most challenging to manage ...are there any changes possible to the plan or have you considered other plans for this block?

A few challenges to negotiate here, primarily safety barrier compliance - simplest way is to keep it away from the house have the pool fence lines simple & straight.....maybe consider the fire pit area with integrated built in seating closest to the house, with the pool beyond......resort feel will come from various elements, but typically lush layered planting, balanced surface treatments that respond to an external space that has been "designed" comprehensively to specific function as you would an internal space. Would be worth your while investing in some professional design (an actual architect, not just a landscaper) as these spaces need to be understood as areas to "experience" and this is what our profession specialises in achieving and helping people with....also these areas can become quite expensive so understanding budget and how to manage/distribute it is fundamental to the design decisions Best of luck Cheers PD www.pauldistefanodesign.com
