I agree with the sliding door or reverse the door to open out. Masters cabinets, 600 base sink cupboard and 600 open space for undermount washing machine. ( same as used for dishwasher) I would use a tall end piece to block the toilet slightly and frame the cabinets. Then have 1200 of overhead cabinets. If your toilet is old I would replace it but not move it. Back to the wall suite looks neat and may be more compact. As you will be getting a plumber anyway, might be worth considering. As your door is now not opening in, this leaves space for shelving. At this stage you will only have two overhead cabinets and one under the sink. IKEA Molger wall shelf is only 18cm deep, I think any deeper and it won't work. you could probably put one near the window on the wall were the door used to open. And another two on the back wall. Molger also has a over the toilet shelf. My suggestion would be that if you get this, you hang the shelves to match the over toilet shelf. Small but functional.

Hi Yes it can be done and we have done it many times. The only question is how to transfer the dead and live loads... which an engineer will do. (dead load is static weight eg slab/roof etc... live load is people, movable items etc) First step is to dig out the original plans with particular emphasis on the structural plans that show the reinforcement of the second floor slab, footing details and wall sections etc. If you don't have them, you can go to your local Council and request a copy of all plans on file. It will cost around $50-$100. Depending on how the slab was reinforced, you will most likely need a beam to span from the laundry to a point in the other bathroom wall that is remaining. The beam can be designed to be part of a bulkhead or feature dropped ceiling. Then there will probably be some thickening of the wall structure and increase of footing capacity. Footings can be extended by drilling through the slab and grout injection into the soil underneath or excavating and installing new concrete. As others have said, a structural engineer will look at the plans, work out a design and detail that a builder will implement for you within your desired layout. Cheers

I actually think its a pity to gyprock over the brick -- Julies idea of a white wine rack there would look even better still if its got the brick around it , as opposed to a cookie cutter painted gyprock wall IMO . One slightly crazy idea ( you'd need to check with an expert as the heat or noise may affect them ) would be custom fish tank there -- it would look cool , but also so unexpected !

Thanks I'll give it a go. I'm assuming it's not harmful with baby around? I'm not sure what it's made of but it definitely a pain to remove!
