I need some advice on renovating my kitchen and lounge area. I would like to lighter up the spaces and keep a natural contemporary feel.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what we could do with these spaces?

Comments (9)We are doing a very similar renovation and extension. Both the bathroom, ensuite, laundry and kitchen freshen up and building an extra living room (kids playroom etc) and a deck extension too. We have a cedar cottage and have used a company to draw up our plans that defiantly design in a cottage/Hamptons style. I plan on using a interior designer/decorator just to tie the how new look. I'm getting lots off advice and ideas from Houzz, but when it comes to the crunch I want to work with someone who has an eye for my space. My ideas books are ready to show, and the final plans were just sent through to us on Friday. Comments (7)Now this, I can get behind! Literally and metaphorically. What a transformation! the 'before' images take me to a place where I'm sitting in a boring corporate 70's office making 80 calls a day only to receive a fax from a prospect to say they liked me but aren't going ahead with the deal (heartbreak). The metal cabinets scream ATO/IRS and I can almost feel the them breathing behind my neck as to why I haven't yet lodged my returns. 2 years agoAs per my Post above, I would embrace and work with the period of the house (I live in an 80's house and love it). You could do a metal stair railing as I suggested above.
