Foyer credenza decor
I plan to keep this piece in my foyer - please ignore the mirror and lamp. The pocket doors, on the left in the third photo, open to an office. A mirror would reflect attractive built-in, white bookcases. Any and all comments greatly appreciated.

Comments (16)Hi I really like the grey. It is on-trend, neutral and would allow the painting to 'pop.' Perhaps if the baskets were white the whole picture would hold together better. All of the photoshopped colours you have chosen are cool/blue toned and the baskets are warm/yellow toned. I think that is what is confusing you. Also the vase seems too tall for that setting. Comments (13)One suggestion I'd make - shelves above a bed are very hard to reach, without standing on the bed. There are many beds though that fold up into a wall cabinet, so take up the thickness of a mattress/frame when folded up. It also makes for a tidier office when it's not a guest room. You may have to hunt for a fold-out that hinges on the long side - most are hinged on the short side (i.e. hinge under the pillow). If you can't find the right unit you might be able to swap with the shelves behind the door, or on the opposite far wall. You'd then have to rejig the other shelves you want above the bed, or move the bed unit the depth of the shelves out from the wall, or rotate it 90 degrees to parallel the wall to the credenza. Comments (23)Also love the buffet....it could be the "hero" of the room. It is beautiful and they are so hard to come by at a reasonable price. I have a much cheaper style mid century buffet and initially had the TV on top of it, but now the TV is wall mounted above it. The distance between the wall and the couch wall is about 4m and we have no issues with the TV being too high...you definitely need to factor that in if you wall mount it though...luckily I had a handyman friend helping me, otherwise I would have put the TV too high. With the TV being mounted, it actually makes the buffet more of a feature and anything that is put on the buffet is now "displayed" instead of being part of clutter with the TV. It looks great and I know yours will too if you wall mount the TV. That is the great thing about the mid century buffets...they seem to fit in just as well as modern furniture as they do with the classic furniture....and because your is "classic", it will never date...a great investment....See MoreNeed Help for Bedroom Decor
Comments (13)I would stay with white bed linen then add a touch of gold to the bedside lamps, like I did in this room. The subtle amount of gold will link in with the Versace cushion. the credenza is very heavy for the space, I would consider not having it in there, going with something more open, a larger more colorful rug, everything here is brown and gray. If the credeza stays color is what you need to focus on or at least lighting the space it seems very heavy.
2 years agoThat is a very large (dense) piece of furniture for the small (not wide) space that it is in. The dark color makes it feels even more heavy and bulky. A console that has some open space at the bottom would help that foyer live a little larger and the round mirror would be a nice accent. This one is from Pottery Barn.
