Can I lighten my trims somehow?
Comments (14)Yes, same colour in different textures will provide consistency throughout with just enough variance to make it look interesting. Are you repainting your walls, if so and if you have the time I'd recommend buying sample pots of the whites you're interested in and painting a decent size swatch of them on walls to see their colour change under different lighting- it will look one colour while still wet in the tin, but completely different once dry on a wall under your house lights and the changing daylight. If it's strictly trim you're painting then that's not really necessary. Can't wait to see the end result, the dark beams with lighter trims throughout the house will look absolutely magnificent....See MoreHigh wood ceiling
Comments (28)Just to throw another option into the mix – look up Marmoleum for your kitchen floor – it's a modern version of linoleum (not vinyl!). It comes in the most amazing range of colours and looks (about 300 to choose from – from very bright primary colours through all the secondary and tertiary colours, marbled or stripey or plain), has all the green credentials (97% natural components like linseed oil, wood flour, jute etc; nearly 50% recyclable content and 100% biodegradable – it even smells great when it is first laid), extremely hard-wearing, easy to clean and maintain, comes in either sheets, tiles or planks and it is quiet to walk on. It is used in hospitals and schools because of it hygienic characteristics and doesn't give off volatile gases like vinyls. We have put it down in our new kitchen about six months ago and I love it. One of the things I love most is how quiet it is – no clicking, clanking noises as people walk on it. It sweeps clean easily, wipes clean (for spots), mops beautifully every now and then and looks wonderful. Highly recommend it!...See MorePainting beams (high ceilings)
Comments (15)Such a beautiful house, loving the high ceilings and all the timber. I also have a black kitchen and I think the black will beautiful with all the timber. I would go black but add a touch of timber as your accent colour. I have a black kitchen, white tops and timber insert shelves. Don’t fight it, embrace it. When its all done, you may just paint out the ceiling beams in white. Love your house, have fun....See Morewhere to get light weight ceiling beams
