What color floors should we do?

We need to replace our cheap, discontinued engineered floor and need a different color. What would you suggest? Not a fan of grey tones. Doors are all new, kitchen is new so wanting something will compliment it all and not clash. We’re just embracing our wood tones/90s traditional home so aren’t going to be painting doors. Thanks!

How about considering warm, rich tones like a classic walnut or a cozy oak? These colors can bring some natural elegance to your space while complementing your new doors and kitchen. Just make sure to grab some samples and see how they jive with your existing wood finishes.

Personally, I would do hardwood in a lighter color than your cabinets, close to the color of your doors and trim. You could do an engineered hardwood (pre-finished real wood, not fake plastic "wood") which is a cleaner/faster install than a site-finished hardwood. Pros and cons to each. Or were you thinking of a different direction like tile or LVP floors?

I am also not a fan of grey on the floor.

Yeh. Sorry. Origin picture looked like fence. I live in austraila and my husband built something like that and the planter boxes. Ours is jarrah wood ( with a few coats of decking oil) and already needs re coating because of weather and living near beach. Too hot to do that now though.we are happy with the look as it's much better than plain fence.

I would also go the the majority and paint first. Low VOC paints are also the way to go and as mentioned new carpet also emit toxins etc. so don't leave things to the last minute and keep things well ventilated for a few weeks after completion. If the robes are sliding doors they don't usually have backs so you need to paint the walls before robe installation, believe me as a pro i have painted many the inside of robes, you will have a neater job and save time. Some wardrobe companies insist on the installation prior to carpet so you have a better fit to the floor, so check it out prior to timing the carpet. So paint first, asked your robe company if they have a preference and if not, carpet then robe. Hope baby arrives safe and healthy ready to enjoy the new environment you are making. 3d Laser scanning is a developing technology increasingly being utilised ( by land surveyors ) to accurately establish existing conditions and features. The scanning creates and collates a series of 3 dimensional "data points" to form a 3D "point cloud" from which various layers of detail can be extrapolated into CAD/drawings etc, so you essentially achieve a 3D model of an existing house that you can cut through for plans, sections etc and spring design processes from with ninja precision. We've started to implement it for certain projects to ensure accurate measure up data collection for our renovation/extension projects. As we all know, structures are rarely built perfectly square, and whilst there is merit in still taking physical off the tape measurements for detail, translating site measurements onto CAD assuming everything's at right angles can be tricky to resolve easily and accurately on paper.

What other hobbies or interests do you have? If you had a lounge space where you could kick back and use your ipad there it might be a nice option. Do you like art and/or plants? A space to cleanse and break away from screen time would be a really lovely and healthy option for you. are the doors and cabs the same color?

if so, i would stay in that family and go 2-3 shades darker. if your home gets little natural light, then i would go lighter.

if u stay in the same color famiy, then whatever shade u choose, it will be a cohesive look

I'd go lighter...bring in samples. its impossible to know your interest in grain/knots/texture/ hand scraping or other effects which are elements to capture / or not... A variety of samples that you evaluate for a few days , in the space will help the most. I'd take the first one w a few knots and adjust the tone , depending on how things look in your home.

@Mrs Moon Your new doors are lovely. Love the wood casing and trim too. If it were my home I'd choose a beautiful stone and heat it underneath. We have natural wood trim and white ash hardwood floors. The floors are natural ( never stained). Lighter floors are wonderful.
