Hi Deb - I am sorry but I don’t have a great answer for you. This ceiling was in place and all we did was refinish it. We also do not get too involved with pricing but a qualified contractor should be able to help answer your question.
Deb, the majority of the ceiling was reclaimed from the former structure and then planed and refinished before reinstalling. We did have to supplement with some new cut, vertical grain fir to finish out some areas. It was a fairly expensive and labor intensive process. You could use all new-cut fir or cypress to get a similar effect at a lower cost. I would talk to a local contractor to find out what his costs would be.
