Am looking for ideas on how to renovate a basement area. It has been used as a “junk” room but has been handy for me to use as a bedroom when my family visits.
Unfortunately the room (kitchen) which is above it has suffered water damage and the ceiling, flooring etc has been extensively damaged.
While the room does not have much architectural merit, it does have a view onto a paved verandah and then onto a pool.
I would like to set it up as a small “bedsit”.
Because of traffic from the pool think that a waterproof flooring, quarry tiles, ceramic would be the best.
As regards the brick walls, do you think a lime whitewash or colour might lift it.
I have prepared a sketch plan ( certainly not drawn to scale) which shows general layout and also there are two photos. Because of my age I really am not up with decorating trends and any help/ideas would be appreciated.
