A modern bathroom with a mid-century influence
This is an example of a large contemporary master bathroom in London with light wood cabinets, a freestanding tub, an open shower, black and white tile, cement tile, terrazzo floors, a vessel sink, marble benchtops, an open shower, grey walls, grey floor and flat-panel cabinets.

Set in the heart of Dublin 4, The Wellington honours the heritage of the home and site. The design blends contemporary details within partial conservation architecture. The house is home to an old Dublin Coach House - which was protected by conservation architecture. Original sash windows and a stone wall built in a traditional method were elements included as part of this conservation process. introducing the coral paint finish to the sash window frames walks the tightrope of modernity and heritage. This coral colour is used throughout the house on all window frames and doors as well as the stone for the kitchen island and a double height wall in the extremely unique interior courtyard - bringing a sense of warmth to the home. A corten steel structural sculpture sits at the entrance to this house creating a grand entrance to this grand home. The door was another aspect of the conservation architecture that had to remain and was a dichotomy to the grandeur of the home and design. A monochromatic bathroom with a mirror obelisk that disappears almost as soon as you notice it makes for a surreal and unexpected element. Mirror finishes on all interior window pockets provide a sense of scale and generous proportions to the spaces. Specialist wall finishes, materiality and play on scale and depth make this a harmonious and luxurious home. This project received an Honorable Mention at the Architecture Masterprize 2024.

Nestled amongst Queenslanders and large contemporary homes in a suburb of Brisbane, is a modest, mid-century modern home. The much-loved home of a professional couple, it features large, low windows and interiors that have lost their way over time. Bella Vie Interiors worked with Boutique Bathrooms Brisbane to redesign the bathroom and give it a true sense of identity. The result is a light, functional bathroom that blends seamlessly with the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic of the home.

After photo-Nicola Damm The bathroom/laundry was the room that needed the biggest changes, the shower wall was knocked down to open up the space and a shower cubicle was installed. No pre made vanity was going to fit in there as well as a washing machine so a vanity was designed to accomodate both the washing machine as well as the sink. The sink is higher than normal to accomodate the washing machine so a folding step is available for kiddies to use. The mirror cabinet has storage and adds to the depth of the whole room. The space works so well now and it actually feels spacious, clean and bright. Washing machine enclosed in the custom made vanity, creating effective space design.
