Love most of these. Definitely look more thoughtful and higher quality than all generic, matchy matchy . Good way to add warmth and interest especially in those rooms that require lots of hard surfaces. The extra cleaning hassle is 100% worthwhile

I do not want to be the person that has the splash back in number 4. It will be a nightmare to clean the stone and big grout joints. Either they do not cook - or the architect has never done the cleaning up around the cooktop.

Georgia, I agree; bringing in rugged wood or stone not only adds texture but a sense of connection to the natural world and the past. Thanks for the reminder- I'm going to think about how I can add those elements to ensure my kitchen doesn't feel too sterile!
