Yes i need 3 metres to screen out 2nd story windows looking into our pool area. The bamboo does the job on that front and is quick growing, just the leaf litter is never ending.

Laurus nobilis have fluffy yellow flowers that I'm sure would be a nuisance in the pool.

Albany Wooly Bush has red flowers and sheds its leaves, but it has a great root system that can be safely used beside a pool. It rarely lives past 10 years and because of its shallow roots will topple easy in high winds.

Pretty bush though and it attracts native animals.

AB Wooly bush is quick growing too. No it is more suited to the dryer southern areas of Australia - doesn't like humidity.

One of my joeys has golden cane palms in a narrow bed beside her pool and has no trouble with them. They average around 4m in height and the roots are suitable.
