Next to the Living Room, is this hidden gem. This powder room is full of unique pieces that blend unconventional materials with elegant details. The deep bronze pendants are constructed with steel sheets and specks of welded bronze – created to be thoughtfully ‘imperfect.’ The industrial design pairs with a geometric mirror giving a modern edge to this elegant space. The mirror hangs from a custom leather bracket – designed to avoid drilling into the exotic granite. Just another inventive element of this Powder Bath. Drama flows from the ocean-esque granite of the vanity and back wall. Inspired by a breath-taking waterfall - the variations of blues, greens and glimmers of sparkle flow throughout this space and onto the blues of the mosaic tile below.

Our NYC studio designed this sleek city home for empty nesters who entertain regularly. This elegant home is all about mixing comfort and elegance with functionality and purpose. The living room is an elegant area with a comfortable sectional and chairs complemented with an artistic circular table and a neutral-hued rug. The kitchen is compact but functional. The dining room features minimal decor with a sleek table and chairs, a floating console, and abstract artwork flanked by metal and glass wall lights. Our interior design team ensured there was enough room to accommodate visiting family and friends by using rooms and objects to serve a dual purpose. In addition to the calming-hued, elegant guest room, the study can also convert into a guest room with a state-of-the-art Murphy bed. The master bedroom and bathroom are bathed in luxury and comfort. The picture our clients had in mind was a boutique hotel lobby with a modern feel and their favorite art on the walls. We designed a space perfect for adult and tween use, like entertaining and playing billiards with friends. We used alder wood panels with nickel reveals to unify the visual palette of the basement and rooms on the upper floors. Beautiful linoleum flooring in black and white adds a hint of drama. Glossy, white acrylic panels behind the walkup bar bring energy and excitement to the space. We also remodeled their Jack-and-Jill bathroom into two separate rooms – a luxury powder room and a more casual bathroom, to accommodate their evolving family needs. --- Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. Our client for this project is a financier who has a beautiful home in the suburbs but wanted a second home in NYC as he spent 2-4 nights a week in the city. He wanted an upscale pied-à-terre that was soothing, moody, textural, comfortable, and contemporary while also being family-friendly as his college-age children might use it too. The apartment is a new build in Tribeca, and our New York City design studio loved working on this contemporary project. The entryway welcomes you with dark gray, deeply textured wallpaper and statement pieces like the angular mirror and black metal table that are an ode to industrial NYC style. The open kitchen and dining are sleek and flaunt statement metal lights, while the living room features textured contemporary furniture and a stylish bar cart. The bedroom is an oasis of calm and relaxation, with the textured wallpaper playing the design focal point. When our clients approached us about this project, they had a large vacant lot and a set of architectural plans in hand, and they needed our help to envision the interior of their dream home. As a busy family with young kids, they relied on KMI to help identify a design style that suited both of them and served their family's needs and lifestyle. One of the biggest challenges of the project was finding ways to blend their varying aesthetic desires, striking just the right balance between bright and cheery and rustic and moody. We also helped develop the exterior color scheme and material selections to ensure the interior and exterior of the home were cohesive and spoke to each other. With this project being a new build, there was not a square inch of the interior that KMI didn't touch. In our material selections throughout the home, we sought to draw on the surrounding nature as an inspiration. The home is situated on a large lot with many large pine trees towering above. The goal was to bring some natural elements inside and make the house feel like it fits in its rustic setting. It was also a goal to create a home that felt inviting, warm, and durable enough to withstand all the life a busy family would throw at it. Slate tile floors, quartz countertops made to look like cement, rustic wood accent walls, and ceramic tiles in earthy tones are a few of the ways this was achieved. There are so many things to love about this home, but we're especially proud of the way it all came together. The mix of materials, like iron, stone, and wood, helps give the home character and depth and adds warmth to some high-contrast black and white designs throughout the home. Anytime we do something truly unique and custom for a client, we also get a bit giddy, and the light fixture above the dining room table is a perfect example of that. A labor of love and the collaboration of design ideas between our client and us produced the one-of-a-kind fixture that perfectly fits this home. The new bespoke joinery incorporating rattan inserts, leather handles, swiss brass tapware and moroccan influenced tiles gave this small powder room a wonderful overhaul. Its now one of the most inviting spaces in the house ready to welcome guests.

When our Aspen studio was tasked with furnishing this home, we went all out to create a gorgeous space for our clients. We decorated the bedroom with an in-stock bed, nightstand, and beautiful bedding. An original painting by an LA artist elevates the vibe and pulls the color palette together. The fireside sitting area of this home features a lovely lounge chair, and the limestone and blackened steel fireplace create a sophisticated vibe. A thick shag rug pulls the entire space together.⁠ In the dining area, we used a light oak table and custom-designed complements. This light-filled corner engages easily with the greenery outside through large lift-and-slide doors.
