Our clients brought us in to make a second floor refuge in advance of the arrival of their first child. This Society Hill rowhome had original baseboard and casing with decades of wear and layers of lead paint. In this case we decided restoration was not the best option for various reasons. We installed all new trim profiles, custom built-ins and radiator covers. Floors were refinished. The bar got a refresh. The original fireplace mantle in the dining room was, and is amazing - that stayed. The living room mantle was an awkwardly sized wood piece. We designed a more contemporary stone mantle that would complement, not compete with the dining room. Both got a black brick interior to tie them together stylistically.

We call this dining room modern-farmhouse-chic! As the focal point of the room, the fireplace was the perfect space for an accent wall. We white-washed the fireplace’s brick and added a white surround and mantle and finished the wall with white shiplap. We also added the same shiplap as wainscoting to the other walls. A special feature of this room is the coffered ceiling. We recessed the chandelier directly into the beam for a clean, seamless look. This farmhouse style home in West Chester is the epitome of warmth and welcoming. We transformed this house’s original dark interior into a light, bright sanctuary. From installing brand new red oak flooring throughout the first floor to adding horizontal shiplap to the ceiling in the family room, we really enjoyed working with the homeowners on every aspect of each room. A special feature is the coffered ceiling in the dining room. We recessed the chandelier directly into the beams, for a clean, seamless look. We maximized the space in the white and chrome galley kitchen by installing a lot of custom storage. The pops of blue throughout the first floor give these room a modern touch. Rudloff Custom Builders has won Best of Houzz for Customer Service in 2014, 2015 2016, 2017 and 2019. The dining room already had a beamed ceiling with painted vintage embossed wallpaper. We added this beautiful vinyl to the walls in a slate blue with modern trellis pattern that suited both the homeowner's tastes. It's washable and adds a perfect sheen to lend a little formality. The trim was given a fresh coat of paint and the fireplace accented in Benjamin Moore's Coventry Grey. A sputnik pendant adds a touch of mid-century glam, juxtaposing the rustic table. The dining table was commissioned locally of reclaimed barnwood. The chairs are of navy tweed, a durable fabric to withstand many family dinners for years to come. A buffet was added to use as a serveboard, as well as provide additional storage. The rug is a durable poly that will withstand spills better than wool.

We love this dining room. The bench and 2 chairs add enough seating for friends to scooch in and lounge. The round table and its beauitful cane base and travetine stone top anchored by blush ceramic chandelier above look beutiful. The bowl of fruits with Lychee and peach adds a textural layer. The blue ocean art set in custom modern floating frames bring it all together.
