This is an example of a mid-sized transitional enclosed family room in Miami with brown walls, dark hardwood floors, no fireplace, a wall-mounted tv and brown floor.

This home had a kitchen that wasn’t meeting the family’s needs, nor did it fit with the coastal Mediterranean theme throughout the rest of the house. The goals for this remodel were to create more storage space and add natural light. The biggest item on the wish list was a larger kitchen island that could fit a family of four. They also wished for the backyard to transform from an unsightly mess that the clients rarely used to a beautiful oasis with function and style. One design challenge was incorporating the client’s desire for a white kitchen with the warm tones of the travertine flooring. The rich walnut tone in the island cabinetry helped to tie in the tile flooring. This added contrast, warmth, and cohesiveness to the overall design and complemented the transitional coastal theme in the adjacent spaces. Rooms alight with sunshine, sheathed in soft, watery hues are indicative of coastal decorating. A few essential style elements will conjure the coastal look with its casual beach attitude and renewing seaside energy, even if the shoreline is only in your mind's eye. By adding two new windows, all-white cabinets, and light quartzite countertops, the kitchen is now open and bright. Brass accents on the hood, cabinet hardware and pendant lighting added warmth to the design. Blue accent rugs and chairs complete the vision, complementing the subtle grey ceramic backsplash and coastal blues in the living and dining rooms. Finally, the added sliding doors lead to the best part of the home: the dreamy outdoor oasis! Every day is a vacation in this Mediterranean-style backyard paradise. The outdoor living space emphasizes the natural beauty of the surrounding area while offering all of the advantages and comfort of indoor amenities. The swimming pool received a significant makeover that turned this backyard space into one that the whole family will enjoy. JRP changed out the stones and tiles, bringing a new life to it. The overall look of the backyard went from hazardous to harmonious. After finishing the pool, a custom gazebo was built for the perfect spot to relax day or night. It’s an entertainer’s dream to have a gorgeous pool and an outdoor kitchen. This kitchen includes stainless-steel appliances, a custom beverage fridge, and a wood-burning fireplace. We took our clients home to the next level. A touch of glamour from every vantage point and a custom crafted the hood center stage finished in stainless and accented with matte brass. Sitting snuggly next to the custom hood are wall cabinets in a two-toned finish with X mullions. The inserts in the wall cabinets where chosen to be an antique mirror to add a big of glam but also to keep the mess hidden behind the door. It’s not just a place to cook dinner, it’s an interior design, it’s decor that deserves to be featured in a magazine. Metallic accents will give your kitchen a glamorous touch no matter its style or design: silver, bronze, rose or yellow gold work especially great in neutral black and white interiors. Patterned, metallic, or textured, interesting backsplash tile bring this kitchen to the next level by adding character to the kitchen design. Across from the kitchen is the open family room area that lacked seating and flow. Our design team felt like it was important to combine this kitchen and family room into a great room and not single entities. Every room should connect to those around it in some way. This step-down family room features a coffered ceiling and a fireplace with a black slate hearth. We made the fireplace’s surround and mantle to match the raised paneled doors on the built-in storage cabinets on the right. For a unified look and to create a subtle focal point, we added moulding to the rest of the wall and above the fireplace. Sleek and contemporary, this beautiful home is located in Villanova, PA. Blue, white and gold are the palette of this transitional design. This custom built-in entertainment center features white shaker cabinetry accented by white oak shelves with integrated lighting and brass hardware. The electronics are contained in the lower door cabinets with select items like the wifi router out on the countertop on the left side and a Sonos sound bar in the center under the TV. The TV is mounted on the back panel and wires are in a chase down to the lower cabinet. The side fillers go down to the floor to give the wall baseboards a clean surface to end against.

Clean and classic for a master bath. Working within an existing master bath’s compact footprint, we created a sense of openness and classic luxury through a new layout, reflective finishes, and graceful lighting. The reorganized space provided the opportunity for a custom vanity at the window, finished with a metallic lacquer, and custom-polished nickel mirrors to provide drama and contrast. Nearby an Alex Katz painting hangs with quiet confidence over a vellum console.

This sensational stone fireplace was designed in 2015 for the family room of a lakeside Bloomfield Hills home. Natural Fond du Lac stones in varying sizes and subtle shades are dry stacked, running floor to ceiling and window to window for a dramatic effect. A floating limestone mantel and hearth lighten the look and frame the horizontal firebox, where natural linear masonry fire brick, stained to a rich charcoal color before mortaring, perfectly complements the lighter grays of the natural stone. A birch log set brings a bit of the outdoors in and ignites the space with a rustic, woodsy effect. Centered overhead is a stepped ceiling detail with indirect lighting via recessed down lights and LED strip uplighting, for a soft transition into dusky evenings.
