A fun and playful bedroom designed for this beautiful Victorian home, with a strong emphasis on colour, form and a place to play. I designed this clever bunk bed put together using two IKEA Kura beds, adding a ladder on storage at one end, a rope net and panelling. To decorate the room the floor was replaced with engineered wood boards, and I commissioned a mural artist to paint the rainbow around the floor. To complete the room the ceiling was wallpapered with a band of paint framing this at the top of the room.

Our client’s young daughter’s room sits in the roof space, where low ceilings and added insulation for energy efficiency made planning the room a challenge. Every millimetre has been carefully designed to balance function with fun. The space is divided into two zones at opposite ends: Sleep zone – with enough head height to fit a wardrobe and drawers for everyday storage. Play & focus zone – designed around the pitched ceiling, with toy and book storage lining the walls to keep the central space clear for movement. A built-in window seat creates the perfect spot for cosy reading, while a larger rooflight brings in daylight and standing height above the desk. The bright colour palette is inspired by a cherished tapestry belonging to the client. Bold stripes create a playful canopy effect while cleverly drawing attention to the ceiling height. The result is a cosy, joyful room brimming with storage, functionality, and charm. A magical hideaway in the trickiest corner of the house.

This loft bedroom was designed as a playful yet tranquil retreat for a young boy, with an immersive colour palette and clever use of space. We wrapped the entire room — including the walls, ceiling and beams — in a rich blue-green, creating a calm and cocooning atmosphere that feels both fun and grounding. Bespoke joinery spans one wall, integrating open shelving, a desk, and storage, all carefully scaled to suit the sloped ceiling. A circular window frames the desk area, providing natural light and a focal point for reading, drawing or quiet play. Layered textures, including a soft boucle beanbag and wool blanket, bring warmth and comfort, while carefully chosen accessories reflect the child’s personality and interests. This is a room designed to evolve beautifully through the years.

Perched high above the playroom, the loft net becomes the perfect spot for a little gossip and quiet time. A cosy, elevated hideaway that offers just the right mix of privacy and play, it’s the kind of space that invites connection, imagination and a moment to just be.
