A complete makeover of a tired 1990s mahogany kitchen in a stately Greenwich back country manor.
We couldn't change the windows in this project due to exterior restrictions but the fix was clear.
We transformed the entire space of the kitchen and adjoining grand family room space by removing the dark cabinetry and painting over all the mahogany millwork in the entire space. The adjoining family walls with a trapezoidal vaulted ceiling needed some definition to ground the room. We added painted paneled walls 2/3rds of the way up to entire family room perimeter and reworked the entire fireplace wall with new surround, new stone and custom cabinetry around it with room for an 85" TV.
The end wall in the family room had floor to ceiling gorgeous windows and Millowrk details. Once everything installed, painted and furnished the entire space became connected and cohesive as the central living area in the home.

An assemblage of textures and raw materials, the great room spaces are distinguished by two unique ceiling heights: A dark-hued, minimalist layout for the kitchen opens to living room with panoramic views of the canyon to the left and the street on the right. We dropped the kitchen ceiling to be lower than the living room by 24 inches. There is a roof garden of meadow grasses and agave above the kitchen which thermally insulates cooling the kitchen space. Wood siding of the exterior wraps into the house at the south end of the kitchen concealing a pantry and panel-ready column, FIsher&Paykel refrigerator and freezer as well as a coffee bar. Soapstone counter top, backsplash and shelf/window sill, Brizo faucet with Farrow & Ball "Pitch Black" painted cabinets complete the edges. The smooth stucco of the exterior walls and roof overhang wraps inside to the ceiling passing the wide screen windows facing the street.
An American black walnut island with seating also separates the kitchen and living room - all sitting on the black, irregular-shaped flagstone floors which circuit throughout the entire first floor. Walnut stair treads and handrail beyond with a solid white oak ceiling for a warm balance to the dark floors. Delta Light fixtures were used throughout for their discreet beauty yet highly functional settings.

The modern kitchen and scullery in this home has it all! Our team designed a custom spot in the corner of the kitchen with open shelves and built in appliances, specifically to house the owner's wine dispenser station and barware. The wine station is always a topic of conversation with visitors and is one of the homeowners' favorite features of their new kitchen.

An all-white kitchen exemplifies timeless beauty. The laminate countertops, which are combined perfectly with Teltos Quartz Slab - Dove White for the perimeter, island, and backsplash, and the white cabinets give the appearance of a traditional timeless charm. The kitchen floor had a thorough renovation, with luxury vinyl tile installed throughout. Appliances, which include a range, refrigerator, microwave, oven, and the extremely distinctive custom commercial fire suppression hood, were also incorporated. Other design features also included 2 undermount sinks with a brushed nickel faucet. The whole concept is appealing since it is bright, sharp, and clean.

Complete remodel of a kitchen and dining room. The room was opened up to create a large open floor plan. A coffered ceiling was added giving the room an elegant feel. The white shaker cabinets complimented by the polished Sea Pearl Quartzite kept the pallet light and airy. The multi colored mosaic tile at the far end of the kitchen creates a great focal point. The Satin English Gold faucets and the Honey Bronze hardware contrast nicely without being overbearing on the white cabinets. The wood flooring keep the large open space warm and welcoming. Finished with a beautiful chandelier and two coordinating pendants over the island this is a kitchen anyone would love to cook in.

THE SETUP
Imagine how thrilled Diana was when she was approached about designing a kitchen for a client who is an avid traveler and Francophile. ‘French-country’ is a very specific category of traditional design that combines French provincial elegance with rustic comforts. The look draws on soothing hues, antique accents and a wonderful fusion of polished and relic’d finishes.
Her client wanted to feel like she was in the south of France every time she walked into her kitchen. She wanted real honed marble counters, vintage finishes and authentic heavy stone walls like you’d find in a 400-year old château in Les Baux-de-Provence.
Diana’s mission: capture the client’s vision, design it and utilize Drury Design’s sourcing and building expertise to bring it to life.
Design Objectives:
Create the feel of an authentic vintage French-country kitchen
Include natural materials that would have been used in an old French château
Add a second oven
Omit an unused desk area in favor of a large, tall pantry armoire
THE REMODEL
Design Challenges:
Finding real stone for the walls, and the craftsmen to install it
Accommodate for the thickness of the stones
Replicating château beam architecture
Replicating authentic French-country finishes
Find a spot for a new steam oven
Design Solutions:
Source and sort true stone. Utilize veteran craftsmen to apply to the walls using old-world techniques
Furr out interior window casings to adjust for the thicker stone walls
Source true reclaimed beams
Utilize veteran craftsmen for authentic finishes and distressing for the island, tall pantry armoire and stucco hood
Modify the butler’s pantry base cabinet to accommodate the new steam oven
THE RENEWED SPACE
Before we started work on her new French-country kitchen, the homeowner told us the kitchen that came with the house was “not my kitchen.”
“I felt like a stranger,” she told us during the photoshoot. “It wasn’t my color, it wasn’t my texture. It wasn’t my style… I didn’t have my stamp on it.”
And now?
“I love the fact that my family can come in here, wrap their arms around it and feel comfortable,” she said. “It’s like a big hug.”

This 90's home received a complete transformation. A renovation on a tight timeframe meant we used our designer tricks to create a home that looks and feels completely different while keeping construction to a bare minimum. This beautiful Dulux 'Currency Creek' kitchen was custom made to fit the original kitchen layout. Opening the space up by adding glass steel framed doors and a double sided Mt Blanc fireplace allowed natural light to flood through.
