The key design driver for the project was to create a simple but contemporary extension that responded to the existing dramatic topography in the property’s rear garden. The concept was to provide a single elegant form, cantilevering out into the tree canopies and over the landscape. Conceived as a house within the tree canopies the extension is clad in sweet chestnut which enhances the relationship to the surrounding mature trees. Large sliding glass panels link the inside spaces to its unique environment. Internally the design successfully resolves the Client’s brief to provide an open plan and fluid layout, that subtly defines distinct living and dining areas. The scheme was completed in April 2016

In south Seattle, a tiny backyard garden needed a makeover to add usability and create a sitting area for entertaining. Raised garden beds for edible plants provide the transition between the existing deck and new patio below, eliminating the need for a railing. A firepit provides the focal point for the new patio. Angles create drama and direct flow to the steel stairs and gate. Installed June, 2014.

Classic cottage and coach lantern designs are melded into the Trafalgar outdoor lighting collection by Sea Gull Lighting for an impactful presentation. The candelabra based bulbs add grace and shine well through the Clear Seeded glass, which is a nice contrast to the rich, Oxidized Bronze finish. The assortment includes small and large two-light outdoor wall lanterns, a three-light outdoor wall lantern, and three-light outdoor pendant and a three-light outdoor post lantern.
