This small courtyard was transformed from an ugly rundown mess into a peaceful and intimate oasis. Faced with the challenge of an area no bigger than 3 x 5m, a custom made floating concrete bench flows from inside to out maximising space for entertaining. Layers of contrasting tropical planting provide a lush green backdrop – a true urban jungle. A burst of unexpected yellow in furnishings, careful selection of feature plants in contemporary pots and the addition of a giant clam shell complete the space and add to its fresh modern appeal.

Impressions Landscape - Design

An opposing garage wall was strategically treated with a trellis design that would both soften and also bring attention to the rusted steel wall art. The main garden is designed with a deliberate tapered angle. This angle allows for a great design presentation with the modern pavers selected. This also created the opportunity for a narrow triangle garden positioned below the wall art.

Clean Minimal transitional that makes sense was our clients desire. We want something different that matches with our new homes architecture. We also dont want to spend our time maintaining it, lol. Some other concerns were drainage in the backyard due to the lot being cut into the side of a hill. Limestone walls accentuate the entrance, stained concrete give just enough contrast and glistens when night sets and the outdoor lighting shines the pathways to and around their home. Walking around back entertainment space allows for cooking, sitting in front of the fireplace, sun bathing and some space for their 4 legged family members. Just enough to create balance & flow.
