ROUGH SILK design

From our first meeting with Michelle to the final unveiling of the rooms we asked Michelle to design for us it has been such a pleasure. Michelle has listened to all our requests and found ways around problems. She has provided us with an elegant, yet modern look which complements our personalities. We love to come home to our “new” home. Michelle has dealt with all trades and suppliers for us. Nothing has been too much trouble.

I cannot recommend Michelle and Rough Silk Design highly enough! RSD was recommended to me by a mutual friend as I had recently moved from a large suburban family home to a smaller apartment in the Inner West of Sydney. Like all new developments it was a white box and I had filled it with big box white furniture. It was a design desert, a stylistic wilderness of mirrors, a boring house but not a home. Thankfully it was within a historic flour mill redevelopment which gave a great basis for design inspiration. I contacted Michelle who came to meet me on site for an initial ideas session and to assess the space, my existing stuff I wanted to keep and some possible design themes that could really work for me, how I wanted to live in my home and for the type of development it was. We agreed on an industrial design theme, in keeping with the overall development and my ideal design aesthetic. The photos tell the story - but it was the process of how we got to the end result that sets RSD and Michelle apart and the reason why I am happy to recommended her to you for your own design needs. There was a good mix of her design expertise and my desire to have some of my personality in the space, communication was excellent as was the professional documentation. There were no surprises when it came to costs or supply and RSD were able to leverage their amazing network of suppliers for the hard and soft furnishings and for the other design elements that make this a lovely home to be in now. Would I use RSD again? Most definately! I have recommended RSD and Michelle to a number of contacts because I am very happy with the outcome, the process and the very reasonable cost in terms of times and actual spend.

We gave Michelle the challenge of bringing new life and colour into our 1985 era home. Our concern was how to blend renovation and redecoration, without losing the original charm or having the restyle clash with the original/older parts and overall style of the house. We are very pleased with the result. We took the approach of trusting the ideas that Michelle brought to us and we are very satisfied with the final outcome. This covers not just getting the look and functionality right, but also her management and co ordination of the various trades and her knowledge and contacts in procurement. Michelle did a great job and we highly recommend her skills and professionalism.

Michelle, RSd owner and our interior designer, did our lounge room. We are so happy working with her.. she's professional, listens and understand what we like / who we are. She has a good communication skills, especially to tough and critical person like my husband . Every friends who came, gave us to our lounge room make over. We are very proud of it, too. Looking forward to work with her again on our other rooms.
