Client
David @ Hack Architecture was contracted to design a detached extension to our home at Charlestown. An old garage was to be knocked down and replaced with a studio building with a double car port adjoining the existing house.
Brief was to create a studio for photography and design maximising space and light. Other requirements were a guest bathroom, multi purpose room and storage room.
In time space is to convert to a rumpus room, guest bathroom and guest bedroom when kids and grandparents get older.
David designed studio space with raked ceiling and double entry doors to maximise space and light which is working perfectly when used for photography. Guest bathroom and multi purpose room work very well for when people visit for photography shoots (especially with new born babies)
The space will convert easily to rumpus room and guest bedroom when required.
Storage room was designed to be entered separately from the rear of the building with a roller door - access is via roller door with ample storage space to replace lost storage in the former garage.
David's design assisted in increasing the space of our back year with a boardwalk running along the building with a step along the length of the boardwalk. The boardwalk & step transition onto grass & can be used to sit when watching kids playing in the yard. The boardwalk also connects to steps to an existing deck which makes access from the existing dwelling easy.
Needless to say, we are very happy with Hack Architecture's work. David was very consultative & had a great understanding of functional design & requirements to comply with local council.

Worked with pro
I have worked with David and HACK Architecture over the past 12-18 months in a professional capacity and have been really impressed with David and the business!
Recently we met with David/HACK to discuss a commercial fit out of our premises.
The time taken by David to understand the culture of our business, our staff and our clients and also understanding exactly what we are trying to achieve was breathtaking!
Given we had no idea where to start, David made the process feel simple, easy, uncomplicated and took the work off our hands which is really important to us.
He quickly understood the culture of our business and understood us & what we were about. This will shine through in the fit out that we're looking at doing.
The same day I received a summarised email from David on exactly what we discussed in our initial meeting, what the next steps are for the project and what we need to do to keep it moving.
Seriously unbelievable service to date and we're less than a week in!
I'd highly recommend David/HACK to anyone wanting to seriously do a renovation or fit out for business or personal if you want someone to really understand you and your vision - David is the man!
