“We engaged Paul Brundell to design our new home in approximately January 2015. The home was completed in November 2015 . Our decision to build was because we were requiring a home suitable for our retirement- the block posed some difficulties because it is a 'small lot ' of 254m2 and in a heritage conservation zone- Paul gave us a huge amount of confidence from our very first meeting- he has designed a perfectly orientated home to enjoy winter sunshine , summer breezes- natural light and great living spaces- it is highly effective as a passive energy user . Paul was great to work with from our own point of view and our builder also enjoyed working with him. “Our overall comment is we received excellent value & a great result. The aspect of the house maximises the morning sun for our living areas, whist the none-living areas are carefully placed in the Southern & Western sides of the house. The houses location within the block of land carefully limits the space utilised by the Southern & Western yards, whilst remaining functional and maximises the Northern & Eastern yard sizes. Every space with in the house feels appropriate, not to small or narrow but likewise not too big, which avoids extra costs. This gives the house a perception of appearing like it has more square metres than it is. This experience taught us we undervalued the importance of this stage in the construction & now acknowledge every extra dollar spent at this stage gives an excellent return in both cost savings & the final result. We would happily recommend friends and family to use Square 3”

“Sam has been a delight to work with. He listened to myself, my 2 sons and my elderly father and came up with 2 fabulous extension designs that met all our needs. He even managed to fit in a couple of "surprises" that I had never even considered possible. I have never done any major work before and was a little intimidated by the process as a single mum with no building knowledge. Sam was available to discuss things at any time and went through next steps in detail. “Peter Latemore and Annelise Spurgeon were an outstanding team to work with to create a home for our young family of 5. Ticking all the boxes, Annelise and Peter took our grand old lady and renovated her to perfection. There was much to achieve on a tight budget. No longer able to put up with the tight working spaces in the kitchen and laundry, lack of storage and children with little room to spread out and play, we were frustrated by an ageing layout that did not suit contemporary living. Our brief was to find space and flow, for our growing family, keeping the beauty and street appeal of the old girl and introduce her to a modern style of living. We also wanted to take advantage of the elevation and breezes, keeping our economic, natural air conditioning system (there's not an air-con in sight and the only fan is one required under the Code on the patio) and imitating the benefits of double cavity brick throughout the new extension. We wanted a design that would grow with us, thinking ahead to a future second floor when the kids got a bit older. We also had to deal with a steep sloping block, ineffective terracing and poor existing hydraulics. The end result is a magnificent, comfortable home where everyone and everything has a place to come together and a place to hide away from it all. It's a striking mix of old and new that we love to spend every minute in and to host our family and friends as often as possible. And all this well on time and under budget with close communication between all parties and an eye for all the detail. Annelise and Peter work so well together, its clear they hold a high professional respect for each other, each bringing their own wealth of knowledge and experience to the drawing board. They were incredibly easy to work with during the design phase, providing valuable insight whilst giving us plenty of input into the process and listening keenly to all our concerns and ideas. It was also comforting to have them both step through the build right by our side. They have truly given us the home of our dreams and have already recommended them to others to help them build theirs.”

“Ross was brilliant. I had been to 3 other designers and architects in Toowoomba. No one seemed to actually listen to what I wanted or needed. Ross was meticulous in his measurements and plans. He was prompt in returning the designs (not like some who could take weeks) and his designs actually were practical and what I wanted. Instead of ridiculously impractical (sunken lounge, dispute being we needed disabled access) or what the designer wanted( knock out the heritage features to install a 3 meter island, no thanks!) He’s an engineer in a past life and it shows as he designed a tricky bit of roof for us as well.”
