MB Design & Drafting, I have to contradict your comment about having only 1 floor waste, we have a large double shower with only 1 floor waste, ours is in the centre of our double shower, our tiles are black and by the time we get out of the shower the water on our shower floor is gone, I always clean the tiles and glass before leaving the shower, I leave the fan on while we dry and by the time we are dried our shower floor is almost dry, we have no trouble at all with only 1 floor waste.. Barbara, we have the same problem, which is not a problem at all, my husband likes his shower much hotter than me but we have our showers turned on to suit each other, we have a small seat at each end to sit on while we wash our hair and feet and each others backs.

I've seen a few sliders painted with blackboard paint - they're so fun and mobile, if there's a hall door somewhere it might be an option as they muffle sound rather than seal it out. KRAKEN WHALE FIGHT! If it's childlike dreams you want to be added to the house, maybe do a kiddy-height connecting door between the kids' rooms or a little message chute they can send back and forth, pigeon holes to send letters to each other or some crazy options like your hidden door in a more public area like the front entertaining space. There are so many ways to add whimsy that can be fixed up and removed later on if yall need. Thank you both very much. You've both put a lot of thought and effort into this, its much appreciated! Its definitely opened up my thoughts and ideas on the space! Its definitely not as daunting as I was thinking and it is do-able! When you look at it everyday you get a bit stuck. I guess I need to weigh up making that study space smaller. It then makes the house technically 3B 2B. But I'm going to have to compromise somewhere for this to work! Its nice to have something tangible and clear to show the builders, so thank you! I might start drawing up something that's a little of both, as I love aspects of both designs. :)

It actually looks like it was designed for a shower screen that was never installed, maybe because they ran out of money towards the end of the job? Frameless shower screens look fantastic when you can afford to put one in when you are renovating or building a new bathroom. Usually frameless shower screens have their anchoring points or recessed channels installed before tiling. It is actually quite tricky to retrofit a frameless shower screen neatly where there are existing tiles as the junction between the two materials needs to be watertight, and there may be uneveness in the tiles. You don't want to penetrate the waterproof membrane that is under the tiles with a retrofitted fixing for a frameless shower screen. I would suggest a semi-frameless screen which has a steel channel at the junction between the glass and the tiles which will be easier to keep clean, provide better support for the glass, and not be reliant on a silicone bead (which often goes mouldy in a shower recess). I would not have it longer than a metre as you will need at least 600mm clear to access the toilet. Extend it to the ceiling (see photo above) for better rigidity. A cheaper solution would be an L-shaped shower curtain rod and shower curtain! Best of luck Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls
