The mirrored wall certainly gives you a 'wow' factor and the floor is stunning. I wouldn't do a textured wall paper or metallic, I think you'd end up with too much going on in a small space. If anything I would perhaps paint the white wall in a very light grey to pick up the grout in the floor tiles.

We had considered so many professional recommendations, -removing load bearing walls, -installing larger windows. -Restoration of the copper rangehood ...a total rebuild as copper was on the front surface only with limited space contained within structure for ducting and fans. Time to rethink ! -Remove the tiled floor?...the tiles covered an extensive area with underfloor heating so jack hammering would have been our only option. Another rethink! -Skylights ? Not an option and we already had solartube type skylights installed in a very steep roof. No other choices available. Paint over internal cedar and brick walls? We were left totally confused!! Hi johnstoneanne , using Copper as a splashback gives you a couple of things to consider where what material you choose may also depend on the actual look you are after and considerations such as its maintenance, it being fit for your purpose plus that of your budget and to meet the regulations for this if you have a gas cooktop. There are a few ways you can go to achieve a copper splashback; starting with use of actual sheet copper laid onto a support substrate. This is a soft material that can scratch easily and will also oxidize and so you may like to consider applying a clear two-pack coating over this metal during fabrication. Another option would be to use a Laminate material that has an actual thin Copper face layer which also comes with a clear protective coating. You have already mentioned using a Copper tile as an option; where this will also have grout lines. Another option you may consider could be to use an easy to clean glass splashback and use a metallic copper finish backing or if you want an aged copper look, then you could alternatively use a copper photographic image that is printed onto the back of the glass splashback. A glass splashback would be easy to clean, scratch, heat and water resistant. There is also the possible option of using large sheet Porcelain splashback in a rusty copper colour if you are after a more matte finish; using something like perhaps Neolith’s Iron Copper or perhaps their Coreten, where these are heat & flame proof, water and scratch resistant and easy to clean & again eliminates Grout lines being a large format sheet. It's a laundry and as such, you won't spend hours in it, so it needs to be practical without breaking the bank. Ditch the idea of herringbone tiles. Whilst it's lovely it will cost a lot more - as it's very time consuming and more wastage of tiles too. White is very safe but it's boring and blah if you don't add some wow factor. Daphnemaria has got it just right with her picture. Your laundry would benefit from a dark floor and splash back as this will anchor the room. Then, to give that POP to the room, all you really need to do, is push the boat out and spend up large on some really funky, bright or unusual cupboard handles. Something that will make you smile. They could be bright yellow, red, one of each colour you like or some unusual shape.
