Hi ASVInteriors, I think you forgot to attach a link to the Ikea chairs (would love to see which ones you meant :) The only worry I have with moving the sofa closer to BR2 wall is that it might block the flow from the entrance through to the large-ish hallway (where it has tall bookcases domintaing one wall and an Ikea 4x2 Expedit uni on the other wall) into the living room (see the plan). But maybe it would work? I should try to move it around a bit. At the moment eh sofa is moved onto the 344cm wall temporarily, with the coffee table in front it. Not sure if it shows up in the pictures well but we have quite a large 6 seaters dining table in the kitchen, which is placed fairly close to the carpet area. I would say that the distance between the back of the closest chair (tucked in, not when pulled out), on one end of the table, to the edge of the carpet area is only 20cm. By moving the sofa closer to the BR2 wall, and with the diving wall between kitchen and hallway being there, it may close the flow? Hmmm...I am not a designer so sometimes I can't visualise it first, maybe I should try to move it around a bit. I did try to move the sofa closer to the BR2 wall and felt a bit claustrophobic of how little space (on carpet area) is left at the back of the sofa. Definitely have to think seriously about getting a large ottoman :)

A house in Penguin Tasmania overlooking the sea with privacy an sun problems using a dark neutral based film showing one sheet of glass done an one with out with the second picture showing the glare reduction on the floor as a comparison . This demonstrates little reduction in quality of views overlooking the sea but offers many benifits to the customers with out having to close blinds / curtains etc. The other two showing the full reflective film on a commercial shop front with views from both inside and outside as a comparison . ( please note; taking photos facing windows will often result in misleading picture quality due to any glare present , thus resulting in misleading darker looking window views than what normally results from using most tinted films .) The actual light reduction difference between these two films is approx 9% with the reflective being the darker of the two and comparable to a popular dark grey low reflective shade that's also widely popular . Any one requiring some unbiased comments regarding this subject are quite welcome to call me . Although I live in Tasmania , I do offer my services not only Australia wide but also overseas if the need arises . As to the life expectancy of these products . As these are manufactured world wide , the quality ( or lack of) plus the degree of experince and willingness of the installer to make sure they want to try an do a good job ; can make a Hugh difference to the last -ability . They obviously won't remove the existing lane crossover, but I'd bet they'd never allow you to extend it across your frontage as you've proposed, regardless of any surrounding precedent examples. You have to look at it from the policy intent, and that is to preserve the original character of the street, which when it was developed was not having car parking. There is a deeper issue of general planning/building policy misalignment. We've spent decades dealing with the fine discrepancies between say the blanket Rescode provisions (that enforces car parking provisions for development) and then Heritage policy that discourages it in a way which almost becomes impossible to achieve practically and is at odds with the "standards". This is just one example....but it highlight how confusing/contradictory all this stuff can be and ultimately you require the assistance of seasoned professionals with the understanding and experience across multiple layers of policy and practicality in order to successfully negotiate design solutions and actually achieve something that can be built. Thanks all for taking the time to offer your suggestions which are great. @siriuskey how tall would you envisage the nib walls to be? The ceiling is 2700 high. In both your suggestions I would need to alter or close in the window as it is a large window that sits above the bath. Do you think this would be a costly exercise? The house is brick veneer. Also love the idea of a sky light! @Kate @siriuskey I didn't realise you could have a door to angle like you have drawn. This seems like a great idea :-) @oklouise Thanks for your suggestion and def worth investigating. The house is steel framed so not sure if possible to recess the sink in the toilet room, but will check it out. This is the current layout for your info. The door only just clears the shower screen.
