To work straight into a kitchen is not always the best idea, this might also not go down well with re-sale value. can you incorporate a "false" wall in front of the door - long enough so you can put a entrance table, this will help to distinguish between the different rooms.

I think it may be ok if your kitchen is a stunning, modern type that is bathed in light. Ands that sounds like what you are going for. Is it? Will a backyard be visible?

We will essentially be doing the same but we will walk in to the dining area which is right beside the serving bench. Make your kitchen stunning with colourful splashback and decorate with a pop of colour with accessories on bench top. Our kitchen dining and lounge are one room.

It all depends on the kitchen (layout / finishes / colors ) you get and on the way the living / dining is integrated with it. If you go for quality there is no need to hide the kitchen, and you can get quality for a reasonable price.

The kitchen is becoming more prominent in terms of home design and often has a multi-functional purpose within the home so seeing it as soon as you walk in won't be a problem. What you need to do is ensure it's designed correctly so the visual aspect of "welcome" is enhanced to suit the fact that it will be seen immediately. Talk to a qualified designer about the layout and positioning of zones within the kitchen to make sure the design works for your style of home and the traffic flow from the front door through to the kitchen is well managed.

We are keeping our plumbing etc where they are, saves a bit of money. Took down the wall between the kitchen and lounge, dining room. Having 20 plus people to feed some times, it will keep every one included in everything :)

I have been turned off by a house that had a kitchen 2 meters from the front door. But it depends on how it is done.

Interesting layout. I would probably swap the family room and kitchen but perhaps the space for you doesnt allow for this. It seems an unusual plan ( to me anyway) but it will force you to always have a tidy kitchen so thats not bad! Hope it goes well for you.

The plan doesn't seem unusual to me but I guess as you say, it works for me.
The most important room in this house is the meals, as it will be where we, as farmers, will mostly congregate and the dining area will be used only in the evening after meals.
The view in the meals area is also beautiful as the large viewing window looks directly into my garden but also down to our workshed and the road some 500mtrs away, where I can see not only hubby coming home but also any visitors entering our property.
The kitchen was also intentionally placed in the middle, so that whether we're in this area or the meals, anyone using the pool can be monitored whilst swimming.

As for keeping the kitchen tidy, I'm a bit of a neat nut so keeping the benches clean will be pretty easy, as there won't be any clutter, just the kettle and a tray with coffee and tea etc...
Did think of putting the kitchen where the lounge is, as you suggested, the view is certainly nice but it would leave me with my back turned to the front door, and visitors and being a bit of a "scardy cat" I'd like to see people coming to my home ha-ha
My double front doors are glass and I will be able to see through the glass into the pool room and also through the front and side window in the pool room.

Obviously, I've made it quite clear, that I like to be able to see people coming, it means I don't get a scare being suddenly surprised by an unexpected visitor.
I'm sure it will go well as you said, as I spent a very long time looking at many different options for the placement of these rooms and this seemed to be the best for me personally.

Living in the country means you can feel a bit isolated, perhaps even helpless at times and that's not particularly comfortable.
