Ok, don't like the dark cushion, don't like the TV in the bedroom. You could go for pendant lighting using the same 'material' as the mirror? If you went for larger beside lamps while you have that mirror there, they would be fighting each other. In the programs I watch, they say to have 'a hero in the room'. In this case the mirror is the hero I think. Also the extra throw cushion for the bed could match one on the chair, so it ties in (or don't have one at all on the bed). If you did need a TV what about having one installed on the wall to the right of the chair,(looking at the photo) and make sure it can swivel out, so when you aren't watching TV in bed it can be against the wall, out of the way. Then you can have a lovely (glass) ornament or two, or a bunch of flowers sitting on it along with your photos. I love how you have your bed dressed, spot on! (without the dark cushion) I absolutely adore the blue shades in the duvet cover and I would draw those out into the room. Love that you have opened up your windows in the lounge. Maybe a throw rug and some colourful (same colours as in the duvet cover on your bed) cushions on the lounge suite as nothing is really popping! There doesn't seem to be any colour except for the flowers and the photos. Colourful paintings on the wall would be lovely too. Maybe the potted plants could be in coloured (as in your duvet cover) pots instead of white. I know you weren't asking about the lounge and if you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Well done.

I actually think you are on the right track with your colour scheme of browns and blues - see the photo I've attached that has a 'spa and gold' colour theme (found on 'howtodecorate.com') your lamp would tie in with this colour theme, and your sofa is 'gold'. This colour scheme looks elegant but also relaxed and I think would suit the style of your house. Would you consider painting your wooden panelling a pale blue? This would add the weight to the lower half of the room that Sian mentioned and add subtle colour. From what I can tell from the photos, it should work with the wall colour, although the walls could possibly be a bit lighter. I would move the mirror to above the fireplace (I think perhaps it's too large where it is) and add some artworks to the walls (in gold frames). I agree that a coffee table would be good. I think the rug you already have will work if you just add some some cushions and throws in creams and blues to the sofa to tie it in. If you purchase an arm chair, I would suggest it should be a pale cream or coffee colour as per the picture. The tv unit does look quite dark, it might lighten the room if it was a paler colour - perhaps you could simply cover it with a material slipcover in a light brown fabric which would also hide the contents, that would look more elegant.

Jeepers this room needs help. One of those curved lamps would work well in the corner, or a cluster of small pendants. A round or rectangular table at the left hand end of the sofa with a vase of flowers and framed photographs would give a 'come-hither' appeal. A coffee table with art books and decorative items would be better than the round poof. A complete change in cushion covers to bring the whole place to life and more artwork on the walls. An interesting chair would work well too. Happy thoughts.

This is great thankyou. The kitchen is on other side of low wall. We have vertical blinds on windows and will be leaving them for now. The low wall is quite short so am finding difficult to find a sectional that is short enough on that side but long enough against back wall. So you think it would look ok if i pulled the sectional out from wall a bit as in pic 2?
