Hi Northstar, I had a bit of a stickybeak at your inspiration photos in your ideas photo albums - would that blue colour on those kitchen cabinets work for your laundry? With the timber countertops & white splashback? Although maybe it might be too dark depending on window light or artificial lighting, it could look really beautiful!

Hi there, Your couches are gorgeous. Just quickly, I’d swap the dining table and two single yellow arm chairs. Then I’d rotate the table 90 degrees if possible. I think if I were going to make any furniture purchases I would first replace all the dark furniture (dining table and bench seats) with white furniture to help bounce some light around. Dark furniture absorbs light like crazy. Thoughts on the kitchen reno would be to keep the bench top and splashback white and then accent with yellow and black. Timber usually softens and warms a space so maybe something like that for the cabinetry but timber isn’t the only finish to provide that feel. This leads into my next thought that white, black and deep yellow can appear quite harsh so maybe some some soft furnishings like some fluffy pillows and rug and a couple of throws might help bring some gentleness and cosy-ness into the space. All the best with it and love to see what you do with the space.

I have had matt charcoal grey/black tiles in my bathroom for a year and a half now. They look great, and I don't have an issue with soap scum, however we keep a window cleaning tool with a rubber edge, in our shower and use it every time we get out, to move the water off the tiles and floor. We also have a window open most times, and use bar soap. The problem we do get is white marks on the tiles, which I think is caused by calcium build up from the water. I only use natural cleaning products, none of which worked to clean these white marks. My husband ended up getting CLR recommended by the tile shop, and this helped a lot to remove the white marks. it is a strong chemical though. Would I get matt black tiles again? No. I was worried before we installed and I prefer white tiles in a bathroom as these are easy to clean with natural products. I will try to post pics of the wall tiles (clean with no water touching them) and the shower ( we cleaned with CLR about 6 weeks ago, and they were clean but need cleaning again now as you can see the white marks.) Hi there, Depending how many tiles you have, a feature wall would be a great use for polished granite, particularly behind the vanity & mirror. With the right lighting it will have the opposite effect of small & gloomy = spacious, chic and sophisticated. Also the size of the tile can contribute to that "small" feeling but 305mm sq is large enough not to. Keeping them on the walls will also help your budget as not needing to apply a non-slip coating. If you're able to have your vanity 'floating' then continue the black all the way down which will have a great effect on the space too. Hope this helps James. Kind Regards, Carol
