there are way too many colours going on here. Your home is a traditional style and yes the cream and green are traditional colours with the reddish brick however why did you put grey around the windows??also you have red scollops above the grey and it doesn't do the house justice. What colour was there before you painted the grey?? considering grey is a more modern colour I think you were attempting to modernise the externals. in saying that the roof would have been better to paint charcoal the cream in white and then the grey and then the driveway would be done in a grey stain. but if you leave it the way it is and cover the red scolloping above the windows the same grey and the bricks below the windows near the ground grey as well then get the drive way restained to the reddish colour of the bricks on the house and then it would blend more and look inviting.

Hi Sue, I think the wall colour (white looks like an white/off white) is lovely. It’s neutral and light, and will be the best back drop for any soft furnishings. I would suggest maybe updating some of your furniture. Your sofas look in good condition, so re-upholstering to change the colour may be a expensive option. in a bid to save some money, perhaps updating your rug to a lighter/more neutral pattern/colour (look at armadillo rugs) is a better option. Also updating your dining setting (perhaps something with chair upholstery to compliment the sofa, and even a large light coloured marble top) to be more contemporary and in keeping with your lounge suite would be the way to go. My clients often find it difficult to part with certain pieces that hold sentimental value, but often a new home requires a furniture update. In summary, I’m not convinced changing wall colour will be able to link all your furniture together. Stick with one piece that works well (ie. the sofa) and work towards updating the rest. I love your bricks too. In fact I would repaint trim colours the same as they are.

The photo you have given is of a single unassuming grey door in a red wall with white or a light grout. There are no distinguishing features whatsoever. It says to me... "I don't want visitors. I don't want to be found. Go away. Don't come any closer!" If this is truly your front door [and I have no reason to doubt it], Nitegalaxy, you are in big trouble if you think a coat of paint is all that is required to bring visitors in. If paint is all you can afford, then if it were me, I'd perhaps stick with the grey. It wouldn't be my first choice but at least it does stand out from the red. You could try a white door - boring I know - but the red brick is so dominant that it makes introducing colours other than greys and whites all that much tougher. Instead, I think I'd widen your train of thought a little more. Can you lead visitors to the door by introducing colourful plantings either side of the footpath? Frame either side of the door with hanging plants. If plants aren't your thing, try some art works. An arty neighbour of mine, hung a large resin coated picture of flowers on her front wall to help visitors to find her front door. It looked wonderful and was quite unique. Is it possible to build a pergola or a canopy over the door to help define the space more. Funky artworks or oversized bright pots could also work. If money is not a problem there is another option. Completely replace your front door. There are some wonderful glass options on the market with bright scenes sandwiched between the layers. too many for me to mention here but look on line. Good luck
