Need help with my living/dining room
Comments (3)Hi Ellen, No, you are not asking too much! With a well-designed piece of joinery you should be easily able to get all your needs met. To complement your Danish scheme, you just need to use the right materials & colours. Here's an example of an entertainment/storage unit I did for some clients. It serves multi-functions in a not very large space....See MoreNeed help for living/dining room
Comments (3)sterlet14, I still don't know what I could call "my style" I have joked and said I am an eclectic minimalist and I say eclectic, not in the sense of heaps of styles and colours all mixed together, which is how I see eclectic but more so, that all the furniture that I have bought for my new home when the construction is complete, is second hand, they don't all match but have a common ground of being solid timber and or leather. As for saying I'm a minimalist, I currently live in a 7 sq home where everything is packed on top of everything, absolutely no sign of minimalism here but can't wait till everything has it's own place in the house to live and preferably in a cupboard or draw, with absolutely nothing on display anywhere, save a vase on the dining table and a few pot plants!! As for your statement about choosing classic but trying to follow contemporary, perhaps you already know what way you seem to be going. Classic and contemprary is an odd one to put together but the photo's supplied show it's not only doable but done allot AND looks great!!! I guess the only thing you have to decide is, if you are mostly classic with a touch of contemporary or the opposite or yet again happy to share the style equally. I think contemporary with a hint of classic is very nice and not at all over done but I don't think you could do it as well in reverse. Cheers, Barbara...See MoreNeed help for my Living/Dining Room
Comments (1)there appears to be a small space between the windows in the dining and living rooms and a space on the entry side of the dining room wall and the wall on the pantry side of the living room...each option has it's benefits but testing how you like to arrange your furniture will be the best way to decide. without proper measuremnts my rough plan is not to scale but shows the four variations with some furniture, good luck with your new home...See MoreHow can I tie my living and dining room together?
Comments (28)bigreader has had some excellent tips. The rug you've chosen is lovely, but you definitely need a bigger size. A larger rectangle size might have more underneath the couch. You can check out online options. The blue is fantastic, once you have that repeated around both areas your room will have much better flow. One other thing to think about when you are ready to change your lounge is to get something with a lower back (same with dining chair), these help a more visual flow than high back chairs....See Moremmilos
