Change the way the bathroom door opens, so it rests against the wall rather than the shower. I would put a wall up between the shower and toilet so the toilet isn't visible from the doorway. A niche can be built into this new wall on both sides. Think the current layout is functional. Floor to ceiling tiles. Can you do away with the window in the shower?

HI Belinda, nice idea about the door and easy to do. Also like the niche built into wall function. Sort of like the light from the side of the house where the window is, so would probably keep. Thanks for the tips.

Having a shower over the bath would give you more room to play with, is there any reason you need them separate?

I would remove the shower and install a shower head above the bath. Then I would move the vanity in place of the shower. Here are some window/mirror combinations for above the vanity.

Hi we had a bathroom with a similar layout and when we renovated we put a long narrow vanity with the sink and a cupboard below it butting up beside the bath hob and extended the vanity top across the bath hob. Our bath was pushed back slightly towards the toliet wall. By extending the vanity top we were able to get two drawers above the bath hob (and still leave an open space under the vanity to slide a container in to house the kids bath toys. We changed the swing of the door as Belinda suggested and put a long heated towel rack on the wall that the door swings back on. We also put a big frameless mirror across the vanity up to the ceiling which bounced the light around and helped create a feeling of more space. Hope this helps.

Dean, that was us 12 months ago, small, same sort of layout, same questions - so I'm not envying you one bit!
My question is - do you really use the bath?
We had one, none of us used it, it was always full of fluff and I hated cleaning it. We were told to keep it for resale ... but we're not really planning on selling and ended up thinking 'stuff it' - and did without.
Now I have a lovely bathroom with a big shower across the end of the room with a glass shower screen and the morning sunlight floods the room. Vanity closest to the door and the toilet between.
Some people will hate the idea of the toilet where it is but we bought one that's enclosed (smooth sided, no s-bends) and my teenage boys are warned they're banned if they don't clean up any messes.

If you are keeping the house and you are not selling it and you haven't got small kids for "bath time", GET RID OF THE BATH, you will have a more comfortable and functional space. In this instance a BIDET could be also incorporated.

Believe me this question "Do we really need the Bath" has come up several times. I never use it and in fact it has been only used probably twice since we bought the house 5months ago. At this stage the house is a buy and stay home so not looking to resell. I agree totally with the functionality aspect and just "doing without it". Should additional little feet start to appear in the home I (we) may want to revisit this.

Pro rules, shower rooms make much more sense if its the only "room" then it moves users round faster, it would also give you room for something pretty luxe! And cheaper than sorting out the bath! You can cope with small feet! and no bath you just have to get inventive (and think when they are teenagers they are not camping in the bath for hours!

My first rule for bathrooms is to make sure the toilet is not the first thing you see when you open the door. Move the toilet to where you currently have the shower, backing up against the wall with the door. It's also nice to have the toilet near a window! If you can, convert that door to a cavity sliding door to increase available room in the bathroom itself. A shower along the wall where you currently have the bath would have a number of benefits - it has a window, which is great for drying it out and preventing mould, it is long enough to have a towel rail at the end of it without towels getting wet and you wouldn't need to have a door on the shower (saving space again). I would suggest the shower rose go on the left end of the shower and the opening (in lieu of door) and towel rail at the right end. I would position a wall hung vanity unit on the left wall where you currently have the toilet. Good luck!

Hi, I had a quick look at your renovation. Once you have a semi or frameless screen installed it will make the room feel so much bigger as that old framed screen is the first thing you see narrowing the room i have attached images as examples. Its a method of creating space without spending a fortune. The reality is its hard to know what bathroom best suits you without knowing all the details but its just about doing the little things best that give you the maximum out of any renovation you do

Get rid of the bath! Big shower as described above and toilet backing onto the entrance door wall so it is not immediately visible! Wall hung vanity on left wall. Suggestion - place the shower controls at the opposite end of the shower from the shower rose - means you can adjust controls without getting soaked! Good luck!
