Never been a fan of matching lighting exactly, but instead suggest coordinating the pendants with your current fixture. You don't have to stick to ball-shaped either and can maybe go with a tubular shape. If you're hubby is stuck on chrome, maybe a chrome tube would work... if you want more glass, we also carry a line of pendant lighting and I'm sure you'll find something to go with it or atleast give you an idea.

Since you don't need privacy all the time I will suggest motorised Roman blind, position it high up under the cornice so when it's up it fits above the door, you can choose the width of the folding panels. In addition to this you can have privacy blinds attached to your door panels they could also be on remote control, it cost a bit more but it really is worth it, no cord to pull, it goes up in seconds. This system can be hard wired on your wall like a power point so you never have to replace battery. The other option is also motorised vertical blind like the one pictured here , this way you can adjust light and privacy as you like.

Depends on your climate and location. Cross-flow ventilation is much more important in hot and humid climates and this is achieved by having openable windows on opposite sides of the house, and a plan that lets any breeze flow naturally through the house. The style of window can also help or hinder cross-flow ventilation. A sliding window (or sliding door) will have a much wider opening than an awning window so will be much better for cross-flow ventilation. The design of you home looks a bit like a gold-fish bowl looking into your primary living area, so you will probably have window furnishings closed most of thetime to maintain privacy which will reduce your cross-flow ventilation. The amount of glass that you have will mean that it will be challenging to heat the living area in a colder climate. Without knowing your location and climate and understanding your floorplan it is impossible to provide accurate information for your situation.
