My mum taught me to have a good weekly housekeeping schedule which has served me well such as, change your sheets on a weekly basis, sun/aerate your blankets/doona regularly as it freshens them up and kills any bed mites etc.When cleaning do it with the windows and doors open to let in the fresh air. When finished cooking make sure to wipe down your benches, sink and even cupboards to avoid any sticky grime etc from building up which destroys your kitchen over time. If you do housework regularly it makes it faster to clean because it is maintained. Trying to clean something that has not been cleaned in a long time takes twice as long to clean properly. I think of cleaning a a good form of exercise. I always see housework as a good form of exercise.

So should the oldies have a proper meal. My parents were quite vulnerable to eating a poor diet as they aged, with no one to take them in hand. I'm determined that won't happen to us. Plus, I spent a fair bit of my life in places where you ate what was available seasonally, so it was all fresh and unprocessed and had actual flavour. (Of course, in some of those places, you were desperate for anything even remotely green by the end of winter!) I also spent a good part of my life eating fruit and veggies trucked several thousand km from California or Florida to Canada. Been there, done that, never again. Eating apples that have been in cold storage for months, or tomatoes that have travelled hundreds of kilometres, or someone's idea of a 21st century version of the old TV dinner, just doesn't cut it with me. As much as possible, local produce, my own herbs, and meat from a reliable local butcher. Frozen peas, beans, even spinach and broccoli, fine, all good,along with canned tomatoes and beans. But that's where I draw the line. Life is too short to be eating mediocre food just because it's convenient.

luvourhome, Anzac, Alberta was named in honour of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. In WWI, they surveyed the area around Waterways (Fort McMurray) in order to build the rail line there. Goods were taken to that point by train and then loaded onto barges to be delivered further north. I live about 4 hours away. I was there a few years ago. It was a very historic part of the area and very interesting. There were huge docks, where the barges would be loaded. Sadly, it has all been lost in the fire.

I picked tidy & organise the home, due to the fact we rent & would love useful information & photos of how to store things with limited space & making it feel more like a home without breaking the budget, would love to win the beautiful book for a dear friend who has had a rough couple of years & I know enjoys cooking, she deserves to be on the receiving end of something nice
