Lovely entrance...I would change the wall color, choose from the grey family to harmonise with the paving. Can the side window trim be changed to match the door, black or dark grey? Definitely change the planter, concrete planters are all the craze now. When choosing the planter, proportion is important, I'd go bigger about 3x the one you got . You will find that plants look better against darker walls, it makes the green pop. As the rest of the accessories and styling, I think the way to go is choose what you will love, it needs to tell your story. I'm a firm believer in picking your own stuff out even if it doesn't "match". I have sprayed all my large concrete planters and they have come up great, I think your bricks will paint up well, try an inconspicuous area as a test, I think your planters will look gorgeous.

Hi L Shum. I think it depends on the style and colour/s of your house, whether it's brick, weatherboard, or other cladding, and where the planters will be placed in relation to it. ?? Not knowing this, I'll suggest there are lots of warmer whites you might like to sample: Antique White USA, Natural White, White Duck, White Duck Quarter....

You certainly have a challenge. Anything can be painted, providing you are prepeared to repaint it when it starts to wear. I think your starting point should be that huge driveway and your window blinds. You don't want to paint those, so you need to work around the terracotta driveway colour and the cream blind colour. It is possible to paint a driveway, but it always wears with traffic and ends up looking shabby. If you have concrete roof tiles I would look at repainting those, possibly a green/grey, to match Colorbond Woodland grey to offset the driveway colour. Probably easiest to repaint the brickwork (rather than render) to match the window blinds so that they are less of a feature. Rendering can be quite expensive, especially as you will need to remove all of your window shutters first, then have them re-installed. I would soften the driveway by introducing some large concrete planters with some hardy succulents along the right hand side. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls
