Need Help creating a new kitchen, ideas?
Comments (38)Samantha B I just completed my kitchen Reno in Perth. My pantry was also bricked up like yours. Literally doubled the space by getting rid of it but we found out after that the pantry was structural & we had to put an extra support beam in the roof instead ($800) so be careful of that! We completely moved the plumbing, gas & electrics & it only cost a few hundred! So don't be afraid to do that as long as u know decent priced tradies! We ended up doing nearly everything ourselves & went with a masters flat packed kitchen & sourced our own stone benchtops dirt cheap ($2500 installed for a 2m bench & a 1.5m island each with one waterfall edge.). Heres before & after pics....See MoreCreating more space in dining area, perhaps with banquette seating?
Comments (12)Thanks Louie and Georgi for your comments. Great suggestions for me to think through. Thanks for taking the time to provide that detail. To help see the space a bit better, I've taken out the wine rack and replaced it, temporarily, with a shelf (that was in a different part of the house) that matches the one holding the water filter (the second shelf is to hold our phone and modem - again, due to a small house, it's really the only place the phone and modem can live). Plus, I've extended the table so that I could get a feel for the size table the area could potentially accommodate, now that the wine rack isn't there. The size of the table with the extension is: 1800 x 840. Ignore the look of the current table - regardless of whether we go banquette seating or not, we would like to change the table and perhaps a pedestal table would be best so that it makes it easier to get to the seats at the back. By the way I noticed that when I look at this post on my iPad I don't see all the photos I included like I do when looking at it on my laptop. Hopefully the photos I've included show okay for others looking at this. Thank you....See MoreHow do I create an open-plan living-dining area and entertainers deck?
Comments (11)Depending on your budget and how much structural work you want to have done, you could keep most of it the same. But you would loose your meals room. extend your laundry to the door of the meals room, turn your laundry side ways this will give you access to the out side, on the other side of the laundry extend your wall pass the internal door of the meals room to create a walk in pantry, extend kitchen gallery to laundry and pantry, open up internal walls of kitchen to living room and dinning room creating a beautiful Island bench looking into living room. open up external dining room wall for sliding doors to bring the inside out. because there is a walk in pantry there would be no need for upper counters so u could also have a bar at the kitchen window on the outside. Doing it this way you would save a lot of money not having to move plumbing and electrical in the kitchen. You would have to walk through your kitchen to get to laundry though....See MoreLooking for some quick & easy ways to update your kitchen?
Comments (0)Because we are obsessed with all things interiors, we thought we’d share with you some of our favourite ways to update your kitchen. While you may want to renovate your entire kitchen, there are a few things that you can change that will instantly transform it. If you’ve got a spare weekend, we can show you how to get the most out of a few simple changes! Paint or Replace Cabinetry If you want huge results fast, then our first tip is to update the kitchen cabinetry. We find that one of the easiest things to do is to paint the cabinetry! There are some amazing new paints on the market now that are specifically designed for the kitchen area. And if applied following the manufacturer’s instructions, your friends and family will never guess that it’s paint – they are seriously that good! But if you have more room in the budget and your kitchen structure is in good condition, you can have a cabinetmaker replace the doors and surrounds. Once they have measured and you have chosen a finish, the cabinetmaker will build the new doors offsite and return to install them. So there is basically only a few hours of downtime. Winner!! Create a New Benchtop So if you are going to the trouble of replacing or painting your cabinetry, it makes sense to replace the kitchen benchtop as well. Again, updating this will have a huge impact on the overall look, and can be done at the same time as the cabinetry update. With similar options to the cabinetry, you can now buy specific kitchen benchtop paint. Giving you the option to completely update your kitchen in a weekend. Or again, if you have a more generous budget, replacing it with a new one will give you an entirely new kitchen. Design Tip – Think about things like maintenance, longevity and style when choosing your benchtop. If you’re a busy family, something like a high-maintenance marble may not be optimal. Maybe try engineered stone instead. Or if you love a more organic or rustic vibe, go for a solid timber benchtop to add interest. Just make sure your style doesn’t override day-to-day practicality....See MoreLiza CCC
