Advice on outdoor painting

Decided to use some Woodland Grey to replace some of the browns before selling my house. Have tried one garage door and happy with it and have done just a small section of gutter and facier. So trying to decide if gutters and facier should be woodland grey and eaves in white.... or do the facier white as well to give a bit of a white border... also at the back of the house be have a pergola that is a sandy colour. Its only a few years old not sure whether to paint the gutters on that too or leave it.. gutters dont touch each other they are about 30cm above the house gutter. Thanks

I like the gray ,use it ...change out the outdoor lighting to something that matches it

I like the grey too. I found the two toned bricks fun, made me think the house has a 5 o'clock shadow :)

I would like to see more photos of the area to get a better perspective. It looks a very rough area and a lot of work will be involved, including building substantial steps to get up to the sitting area. Quite frankly, I would do away with grass altogether, it won't be easy to mow, especially if you are limiting it to a small area, and put a timber deck in, which could form a viewing platform for the rest of your garden. From there a simple rockery would take care of the natural slope, leaving generous pockets for plants to spill over. Do you need a play area for children at all? Have you factored this into your garden?

I do not know whether you could paint roller shutters, but, in my opinion, once you have painted your front fence in woodland grey, that would make a a big difference to street scape. There appears to be colour, similar to woodland grey in the shutters. If you then planted greenery in garden beds, this will soften the hardness of your stone garden. The roller shutters are not a 80/90 disaster, they are still very useful for insulation, noise reduction, sun reduction. That is why they were probably installed in the first place. Stand back once you have painted your fence, then re-evaluate. Good to read you are not painting or rendering your bricks. Just soften with planting.

paint all the walls the same colour, don't forget to finish the cornice and once you add a bedside table and lamp and tidy the curtains the angled wall will just be background

Hi Kate, it sounds like you're on the right track already. If you are painting the ceilings Vivid White then paint the cornices the same colour. I personally like Vivid White skirts and door frames especially if the walls are a natural white. To keep it light and bright and a blank canvas with tenants you cant go wrong with Dulux Natural White or Haymes Marble Mist.

Absolutely go with the woodland grey on the gutters and fascia boards, white on the eaves only, saves a whole lot of cutting in and hides the gutter slope required for drainage. Paint the other garage door, and a new 'retro' style street lamp light fitting to illuminate your house number. Paint the house number a half or quarter shade of the woodland grey to make it easier to read, but keep it in the same colour family. Finally, a quick pressure wash of the driveway and your house will look a million bucks. For the back, keep with the woodland grey for the pergola as well, but introduce some crisp white into some occasional furniture pieces, and some soft foliage to brighten the area.

Woodland grey works really well, congratulations. If you're happy to paint the gutters in woodland grey - go for it. It would look more consistent if all the gutters are one colour. I'd only do the eves in white or off white or it might be too much? It's up to you at the end of the day. Enjoy your painting and the plants in front garden look amazing!
