That looks all in proportion to me if your diagram is to scale. How high you go is really up to you. I have noticed bed styles are changing a lot lately and there are so many designs on the market now, it doesn't seem like there is an "in" or "out" at all. The only thing I don't like about all the large beds these days is that they are extremely heavy - how does one move them to clean?

With a very sloping block one has to adapt or go rolling down the hill. Making retaining walls which did not require a permit was tricky.
