Need help with my living/dining room
Comments (3)Hi Ellen, No, you are not asking too much! With a well-designed piece of joinery you should be easily able to get all your needs met. To complement your Danish scheme, you just need to use the right materials & colours. Here's an example of an entertainment/storage unit I did for some clients. It serves multi-functions in a not very large space....See MoreNeed help with my living room
Comments (24)Been away just saw this I agree with others remove round coffee table replace with a not too large rectangular glass. Wall hang tv, (my choice above fireplace) remove tv console (u could use a low shelf of book case for DVD etc. ) replace with chest. Another option if it fits: Relocate left bookcase to where black recliner is & put recliner in that corner with floor lamp maybe behind it. The square box coffee tbl also looks out of place. Also Could one of door openings be filled in if there is an alternative access out of the room to the right of fire place. Love the fire place & floors....See MoreHelp me spruce up my living room
Comments (13)Yes , my first thought was pretty much along the lines of everyone else -- a large artwork -- personally , I'd go for an abstract with that 'bladed on' look , in either tones of reds and oranges and yellows , OR several blues and maybe green and silver . Go big -- at least 1.5 metre wide by 1.2 tall . There's some cool mixed media ones available for $400-500 on-line , that have bits of tinfoil and corrugated board and the like added too -- certainly adds some visual impact . Add cushions to match , large candles on the TV cabinet in the same colour pallette , and if you're adventurous , get the blind remade or spray coloured , again keeping to the same pallette to tie it all in . OR as an alternative , how about the wall behind the couch in fake 3D brick wallpaper ( reddy/orange and cream bricks ) , and the wall behind the TV painted an earth toned orange -- the white couch and black TV cabinet and white wall / blind / ceiling would would contrast nicely -- maybe add a larger white faced clock with bright red or orange numbers -- you've gotten a vast improvement on a budget ....See MoreDo you have any ideas for my living room?
Comments (29)Hi Lindsey, I also agree with the comments regarding adding indoor plants to fill the gaps on either side of the TV. Some great, low-maintenance indoor plants are the Fiddle Leaf Fig, Monstera (also known as Swiss Cheese Plant) and Snake Plant (Mother-In-Law's Tongue). They're all beautiful plants and very ease to take care of. Another option would be to have some open shelving on either side, similar to the one we have used in this Living Room styling below. This could work really well, especially if you have limited storage for some bits and pieces you would like on display. A bonus is that including taller items like this will create a sense of balance in the room, and accentuate the height of your wall which will create an illusion of taller ceilings. Hope this helps! - Elena...See MoreBC Magic Wallpaper
