Bathroom space ? What to do?
Comments (17)My first rule for bathrooms is to make sure the toilet is not the first thing you see when you open the door. Move the toilet to where you currently have the shower, backing up against the wall with the door. It's also nice to have the toilet near a window! If you can, convert that door to a cavity sliding door to increase available room in the bathroom itself. A shower along the wall where you currently have the bath would have a number of benefits - it has a window, which is great for drying it out and preventing mould, it is long enough to have a towel rail at the end of it without towels getting wet and you wouldn't need to have a door on the shower (saving space again). I would suggest the shower rose go on the left end of the shower and the opening (in lieu of door) and towel rail at the right end. I would position a wall hung vanity unit on the left wall where you currently have the toilet. Good luck!...See MoreBathroom tiles
Comments (3)Hi Naomi, generally white gloss 300x600 (rectified) wall tiles are around $25-$30/m2 Floor tiles can vary a lot. 300x300's & 300x600's are very popular but I would recommend a floor tile of at least $40/m2 There is a misconception that lighter means it will feel bigger. Whereas, simpler will feel bigger. For the floor tiles, keep to natural tones (timber, slate type colours). The only colours I wouldn't go is white (or close to white, need contrast from walls) - and I wouldn't use a colour that replicates your vanity cupboards. A slate floor against a white wall can really provide a "non-offensive POP!" Good luck ! Doug. Perth W.A....See MoreBathroom shower design fail
Comments (52)MB Design & Drafting, I have to contradict your comment about having only 1 floor waste, we have a large double shower with only 1 floor waste, ours is in the centre of our double shower, our tiles are black and by the time we get out of the shower the water on our shower floor is gone, I always clean the tiles and glass before leaving the shower, I leave the fan on while we dry and by the time we are dried our shower floor is almost dry, we have no trouble at all with only 1 floor waste.. Barbara, we have the same problem, which is not a problem at all, my husband likes his shower much hotter than me but we have our showers turned on to suit each other, we have a small seat at each end to sit on while we wash our hair and feet and each others backs....See MoreBathroom in need of an update! Comments (23)Hello! Lovely space, I have a huge soft spot for these bathrooms. To honour what it is, but make it more enjoyable for your uses PLANTS PLANTS PLANTS. I would either install some shelving to have some dangling vines (or equivalent look) plants up high, or use a hanging fixture into the ceiling. That far corner above the bath would be great. + A large (and tall) pot plant and some smaller ones wherever you can fit them. On top of this, I would replace the doily curtain to a more modern look, perhaps white, wooden blinds? If you can do further work from here, it would be accessories, like the towel rail, and tap ware. Something a little Art Deco for your taps would look amazing. Finish with large, fluffy white towels and bathmats to conceal as much of the colour as possible and brighten the space and a big candle or three, maybe a white stool or ladder too....See More- 8 years ago
