My little "log house". Front fence?
Comments (18)Hi, Barbara! Hello, my friends in the Houzz! I got caught in the whirlwind of construction works and a wedding and family homecoming that went with it! Now, I am happy to be back supervising the works. I made additions to the house, mainly at the back, making outdoor living and relaxation as a feature with the grill and outdoor seating and mobile Kitchen all added around the small bath area. Security here in this country is a big consideration, which leaves me with not much choice but to build high and strong fences and gates. My challenge is how to allow for a view of those cornfields and meadows just behind the house, providing a natural awesome backdrop to the 450sqm small property. It may not disappoint you too much to know that I went for the cut stone cladding for the four tall gate posts in front, a copy from the cladding on the posts of the front veranda, only, they are 2.2meters high. There will be two wide gates that will allow entry and exit of suv's on a half roundabout. The whole stretch of the front fence and gates shall be 2.2m vertical iron rods all lined up in a picket. This should allow the least obstructed view of the property from the narrow road. I shall send you more photos of our finished product :). In the meantime, this is how I have fared... Blessings to you, all!!...See MoreNeed ideas to enhance front of my house
Comments (22)With out knowing the layout of your home its a little difficult to say, but the top large window section would look great with either roof to floor windows or if $ is ok put on a balcony with bifold doors. Render the brick work and fix the concrete in the front. Garden can make a big difference to the front with out a huge expense...See MoreHouse facade needs something
Comments (25)I love the 3rd picture that Jen Osborne posted. I'd even add the same feature panelling above the garage door, and remove the letter box wall from the front door to closer to the nature strip/driveway. With landscaping, it will look sensational. I love the clean lines of your house Steve Brown!...See MoreI HATE THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE
Comments (20)Being in the market for a new home, I have to say this style really interests me. I like the privacy of it and I immediately want to know more of the layout of the house - homes like this often have very interesting and functional layouts - and frequently finish with a fabulous outdoor area at the rear. By all means create attractive landscaping but otherwise keep those clean simple lines that are less likely to date and focus on the inside and make a great outdoor entertaining area at the rear. Show the house as a way of life and not just a roof over your head. If you ever decide to sell, wowing people from the actual living area will soon make them forget any perceived "shortfalls" at the front....See Moremorrisooni
