Kitchen/ laundry Renovation

We paid a large sum of money for some renovations of late and we are left to pay the final invoice. I am not happy with how the job was finished/ unfinished in this case. I do not know the next step in the payment situation. I feel we have not got the whole package we were wishing for. The skirting is a different size, the new cornicing and wall has not been painted, the light has cracking around the edge where it has been put into the ceiling, no putty on the nail holes around the window. We got the builders in so my husband and myself could sit back and enjoy a finished kitchen and laundry and paid good money for them to do this.... This to me is far from finished?

Comments (5)i'm sorry to say that i don't believe that there is a stress free renovation but with careful planning there could be a successful renovation and if there's no asbestos to remove demolition can be exhausting, dirty, good fun but, even when everything works perfectly, you can potentially be without a kitchen and laundry for several weeks or longer ... it's not especially difficult to sub contract a kitchen renovation there's just so much to organise and with the current health crisis i'm told that there're a big demand for home renovations and we can expect super long delays for any cabinetry or trades work ...eg you will need an electrician and plumber to disconnect and reconnect services several times and if one of them doesn't arrive when needed everything else has to wait.. but, anything you can do to save time and labour could make big savings and even if a kitchen company does all the work you will still have to choose all the appliances, taps, sink, tiles, counters, doors, styles, paint, lightfittings, floorcovering etc and make sure that everything is ready on site when needed and you could be living in a mess, cooking on a barbq and washing clothes elsewhere regardless of who does the demolition so why not ask the kitchen companies for an itemised lists of charges including costs for any appliances, taps and sink so you know the potential savings and their timetable...See MoreLaundry renovations
Comments (15)With estimating the distance from walls to window, and assuming you do not want external access here are my thoughts. Turn toilet and install privacy wall. Install full height storage next to door. Then on the window wall, have a bench running along the full wall., except in the corner to allow for your top loading washing machine .With under bench storage, and also install overhead storage either side of window. Comments (8)The trims if done correctly are built into tiles, so you can’t just change without removing tiles. See if you can get an off cut of the same trim, and rub back with light sandpaper and see if you can spray paint. If this works, then cover and tape up tiles leaving trim exposed and spray paint.
