What colour should I use for my living room & kitchen?
Comments (6)I have had my kitchen area painted with Dulux Cowardly Custard half strength walls for years now and I love it and never tire of it. I love how cheerful and clean the rooms always look and the colour is not overpowering. Other areas in my home have walls in green and aqua blue and the three colours mix together well and stronger shades of yellow can be mixed with it also. I have just redone the kitchen cupboards and did them in Cowardly Custard too with white benchtop and white glass mosaic tiles and my small kitchen looks so much bigger now. A pale colour will not make a room look smaller....See MoreWhat colour should I paint my exterior?
Comments (118)Thanks Anne and I will look at pale grey given the maintenance considerations. I have already paid for a colour consultant who was great but the Reckless grey she suggested for the house render and basalt gutters/fascia and front wall were too grey when we had the render samples put on and while it had a modern look, it was not giving the beach/coastal feel. I will head back into our inspirations paint store this morning to see if I can find the warm grey colours that have the most similar colour make up to Dune, and go from there. Anne you don't happen to know the dulux colour most close in composition to Colorbond Dune so I know where to start? Thanks again and I would love to hear from anyone who has got a dune roof and hear if they tried light coloured gutters and what render colours they have used on their walls....See MoreShould I paint my Kitchen Cupboards?
Comments (14)Hi everyone, thanks for your amazing feedback so far! I had a builder come look at my cupboards last night, and he advised that they're actually chipboard with laminate front, although when he first looked at them and felt them he said they are wood but that's what he found upon further inspection. The cupboards are in excellent condition still - there is no peeling on the edges or and chips or anything like that. They must be a high quality material when originally installed. The kitchen is a stand-alone room. There is a door that goes outside to the backyard, and another sliding door that opens to the dining/living room. The kitchen window frame matches the rest of the window, door frames and architraves in the house (the top picture has the door frame visible). If I was to paint the window frame, I would imagine the door frames in the kitchen would be painted to match, correct? I prefer to keep the bench top as it is about 5 years old and in prefect nic. Perhaps I might go down the path to replace the cupboard doors as personally, I'm not a fan of the routing....See MoreShould I remove my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (70)Ok so after all the feedback I made some changes. After looking at it, I would like to make entry point from garage on the garage wall, so you still enter into pantry, but you dont have to walk through pantry to gain access to the house. I would also like to flip bathroom and bed 3 so bathroom is centred between rooms. Also not convinced I should have entry to lounge from kitchen, should I have kept it entering from the entry. My only issues now is, do you notice how the bathroom steps in? This is because the ensuite is a bit bigger. Will it look ok once built or do I take that 30cm from my ensuite/main room to level it up? If so do I take 15cm from ensuite and 15cm from main bedroom? Also I really wanted the compartment bathroom that oklouise suggested. But its not big enough. Any ideas? My current bathroom is 3100 x 2600....See MoreHayden DANIEL
