Help! New house... Bad kitchen!!
Comments (32). Its just way too much timber! So the floor should stay, because its harder to change. Start by definitely at least pull out the part of the kitchen with the weird enclosed fridge space. that really cramps the room. Then pull of and replace the cabinet doors and the laminate bench top. pick some amazing tiles and have your husband work his magic! Paint the walls a nice colour to really make the space look more vibrant. Get rid of those horrible blinds completely! We are doing out kitchen up and we don't have much money or skills or access to tradespersons anyway. So we are keeping it to a minimum. Do it little by little. We started with a new stove with really changed the feel of the room. We plan to just paint the cabinets....See MoreNeed help with exterior paint colours
Comments (6)I definitely agree with Tribbletrouble. The current trend of very dark roofs is perplexing in a hot country such as Australia. I suspect this is a trend that will be short lived because the colour of your roof is important regarding energy efficiency. A dark colour such as Monument has a high Solar Absorptance (0.73). In the general range of roofing colours you can get much better colours, such as Surfmist or Classic Cream which are SA 0.32. You can usually find the SA rating on the brochures. The same argument goes for colours of large expanses of walls and paving such as the driveway, with lighter colours being a better choice if you live somewhere where summers are hot. Of course if you live somewhere cold, darker colours would be a better choice but for most (if not all) of Australia, lighter colours make much more sense (and good cents)....See MorePlease help me jazz up my lounge/dining, im so bad at this!
Comments (19)Hi Zoe, what a lovely space, great neutral floor and curtains, your lounge and dining set perfect, I think you do know what you like just look at the photos you have posted, the only thing missing in your space are the personal bits and pieces. Take all of the above photos with you to Kmart and use them as a reference to purchase, good thing is you can change them if you feel it doesn't work. Your room really needs lights/ lamps, are you able to fit a hanging lamp above the table, what type of ceiling lights does the apartment have The other big thing is the entertainment wall needs bulking up, you need something taller and wider this can be made up with a couple TV height(Taller) cabinets on either side of the current TV, the speaker system needs a home and arranging, Kmart is bound to have something, or check out Salvo's etc they often have those old Pine timber entertainment units that old TV's sat into. With a light sand, white wash and a sealing coat they come up a treat Love your rug but it's a bit small, in the meantime I think I would line up against the lounge so it's not lost. Good advice Nelson Interiors, love Kmart and Bunnings to help with stretching the budget, Zoe don't over look Buniings for furnishing your room, work benches etc also make great TV stands and side boards, they also have a large lighting section cheers...See MorePLEASE HELP!
