I only have downlights. Simple and unobtrusive. If that's what you want, then have them.

Hi I agree with the above comments, you can have pendants on a 2400mm ceiling. To keep the design uncluttered, make them not too intrusive. Choose transparent open designs or clear glass or petit shades. We have got used to higher ceiling in many new builds but a lower ceiling in the kitchen area also gives you more lighting options as some pendants don't have long enough drops for higher ceilings. A long track lighting across both dining and living so you can direct the light to whatever you want hi light. A hanging light over the dining table that can be clipped into the track. this would be the most cost effective great way to light up your rooms and it can be powered from an existing ceiling light. I would have two tracks joined into one cheers
