Comments (3)Hi Sophie, I rather like the pictures on your clipboards and how you have your tools...busy but organised...is that your preferred style to help focus on a task, to amuse, or perhaps encourage creative thought? Start by checking out "study nooks" on Houzz to see what ideas appeal to you - look at what has been done to create the feel of the space... you have a lot of options with your nook and whether you opt for paint, wallpaper, material, a collage, where you place items etc will depend on the specific style needed to help you study and what else you do in that room as well as your budget and how much time and effort you put into planning and implementing it. Copper will certainly richly complement black, and painting a wall is straightforward if permitted, but realise (for future changes) that it takes many coats of a lighter colour to effectively cover up an existing dark colour (even if possible). Also be aware that trims such as the white shelves, brackets, corkboard surrounds etc will add to the overall effect. So, for example covering the corkboard with paper or material in a complementary or matching colour may help tie it in to your theme. When you have narrowed the choices a little, take another photo with your copper pieces included and repost. Hope this helps....See MoreSleek Study

Comments (17)Having a desk of any kind will always be a bit messy if you are like myself. I have placed the computer desk into the niche with the Wall Mounted TV next to it for a reason, we are like minded two screen people, me for drawing plans. The screens mounted at the correct height for the user so you are looking up and not down to avoid any neck problems. Having the screens up off the desk allows more workable space, Open storage above with a set of drawers on one side under the desk with a pull out extra desk top (Ikea ). I didn't go into a whole lot of detail with my first post, you mentioned not wanting anything in front of the window which you viewed down the passage way, Your corner lounge with extra lounge or 2 x arm chairs creates a great conversation space with a large coffee table and a great place to put your feet up while watching TV. A good reason for placing the Desk and TV side by side is to allow you to consider a sliding door to cover the office, as per this photo, which can be pulled across the TV to the wall, you would need to have a small Nib wall on the passage way end of the Niche, I would have expected that anyway You appear to be having trouble with space for your bathroom, suggest you look at a Japanese style bathroom as per the photo, you can position them across or down the room. cheers...See MoreStudy nook disaster
Comments (22)Remove red shelves and build in a wall of fitted shelving on that left hand wall, extending right in along the side of the desk. I notice the filing cabinets are at either end of the desk - can they be moved to the right hand end so as not to be blocking the storage area you will have created. In fact once you have the extra shelves you may be able to get rid of one of the filing cabinets. Place the printer and extra equipment on the shelves where they cross the end of the desk, and you have all the rest of the wall for dedicated storage for books, files, rubbish bin, containers for EVERYTHING, appropriately labelled, this may help hubby to keep things tidier, eg a container for all the cords and connections, another for USBs, appropriately labeled, Lots of file boxes or other appropriate storage containers on the shelves. Install plenty of electrical sockets, or fit that power board UNDER the desk, out of the way. A charging station would be useful. Stack of fresh paper for the printer, bin for rubbish - having EASY access to EVERYTHING is the answer. And yes, hide all those cables! Wireless gadgets if possible! My desk has a half-depth shelf under it, in front of my knees, which has the printer and spare paper stacked on it. Works just fine, out of the way and accessible....See MoreBee Phillips
