Comments (8)Sounds like a fun project, and it's great you've had a think already! Exposed pipes aren't neccesarily an issue - it's more about the style/quality of the pipes that we see may be an issue. Just like Vy said, there are many very stylish wall hung options that use exposed pipes as a stylish feature. We're included some others below that may help to inspire! As the bathroom is small omitting the cabinets will provide a more spacious and minimalist appearance. Alternatively, you could go with a stand alone basin that hides the pipes: OR a wall hung cabinet that hides the pipes but doesn't take up lots of room. Comments (58)For storage, I used a mirrored lift up cupboard door above the sink area in my very small ensuite with some success. We put power points inside the cupboard too - it was a very good place to have them as the door lifts up & is out of the way. I also used some of the wall space to allow slightly deeper shelves, without the cupboard jutting so far into the room. The cistern was recessed into the wall cavity, (in our case below the window) & it worked well to save a little space in the room. Photos are not very good, but I hope you can get the idea.. It worked very well. The ensuite was 1mx2m. We use vertical towel rails. They're really good & very compact, but do make sure the electrician installs them up the right way. Comments (13)You’re correct of course. We have short and long time plans but just want to make it liveable in the short term doing what we can within the existing footprint. The house was purchased to be a laid back beachside hangout, however my daughter in law may get a new job in the town so she and my son may move in there. The building is an ex milkbar on a triangular shaped allotment subdivided from the main house made of brick and rendered brick. The rear room and storage area are concrete block construction. The whole building is on a concrete slab so we plan to polish the concrete throughout accept for existing carpet in bedroom and current lounge. Maybe some tiles in the bathroom. The eastern boundary can’t be altered as that is the sideway access so the odd shapes on that side need to stay as is. There is a driveway in front of the carport and storage area. There’s asbestos sheet on the eastern wall of the carport concreted into the ground so that needs to be safely dealt with before any change there. The western wall of the carport is attached to the main house and is the title boundary. So any construction there will require a second wall. We have secured a fabulous second hand kitchen for $900 (with many more cabinets than we need so have lots of options including for a vanity) which includes a Miele dishwasher, Blanco sink and quality cooktop, oven and granite bench tops. The bench top includes a piece that can be easily trimmed for the odd angled corner in the back room. After swapping the kitchen and bathroom positions as proposed in my draft plan, we figure then it can be lived in while the next phase is built outside. We propose to build a new room that would be a dining room adjacent to the triangle shaped kitchen. (Will remove the wall in between to complete) Between the new room and the carport we would add in a laundry and second toilet (or ensuite if we go for a third bedroom) If we decide we need a third bedroom we could convert the carport for that purpose. Given the property is only a 5 minute walk from the beach a second shower maybe best placed in the rear garden. We have also thought we may love a bathtub/spa to soak in the warm north facing courtyard so therefore don’t need one inside. There’s water and sewer waste points outside the existing toilet and where the current vanity and laundry sink along the angled eastern wall. There’s also water and waste points in the carport adjacent to the current kitchen and in the storage area adjacent to the current shower. Comments (26)The recess is just the depth of the wall cavity so won't disturb the living room, the recess would need to be lined with thin gyprock ( it comes in at least two sizes plus tiles. To save you extra work and disturbing your tiling I think this vanity and a new 720 door would work with your 900 width Powder room. Keeping in mind that a Stacker bi fold door will be twice as deep as a single door when opened , so taking up precious space....See More- PRO

The wallpaper below is from Today Interiors and comes in a very light grey which would both brighten your space and also reflect light. The 'tiles' add drama and interest to the space without being intrusive.
Paint the skirting in a soft white to sharpen the space and introduce and metallic vase or candle holder to the window sill in; copper gold or platinum.
Tiny toilets are perfect for making a statement and a talking point, so be bold!- PRO

8 years agoHi. I'm not sure if I've misunderstood you regarding the mirror ŵall. I wouldn't add a mirror ŵall behind a toilet to both protect modesty and also aesthetically re the reflection of the loo :) if you did like the tile look have a look at Cole and son antique mirror paper as pictured below which will give you the glamorous look. You could either add art or a bronze mirror. If you like Jonathans idea see the Sistine light below by young and battaglia, you could then add the inky blues suggested by AJ
