My house, built in 2003, has purple feature walls in the dining room and 2 bedrooms and green feature walls in 1 bedroom and 2 living areas. That was the fashion then. Recently I decided it's time for an update as the feature walls seem to be absorbing all the light and making the house very dark. So far I've undercoated 2 of the feature walls and what a difference it makes! The rooms are much lighter and now I have to decide on whether to add a lighter colour as feature walls or paint them the same colour as the rest of the room.

A few people have asked for the colours I used on my house. I used the Resene colour range. *Weather boards - Ash *Battens - Triple Ash *Trims, window frames and vertical rails on stairs and deck- Alabaster *Top Hand rails and accents (pretty much anything that was red) - Half Nocturnal *Stair treads - Alabaster in centre, Ash on sides *Stringers on stairs - Ash Hope this helps :)

Cream always looks good with green, maintain the same green for windows & door. Having said that you can choose any colour by repainting the gutters & fascia etc. Get lots of colour swatches & hold them up to the roof (from a distance) to see what looks best to you. Then get some sample pots & paint so you get the proper effect of the end result. Look around at other painted homes & magazines etc, to get an idea of what you really like.

Both colours would look good with the flooring you plan Is the brick wall staying? The darker shade would balance the strength of the brick colour The white kitchen will make the whole room blend together as it will 'clean' the colours consider how you intend to decorate the area - is the green going to feature heavily elsewhere? (like living spaces?)
