Kitchen island bench colour
Comments (18)I've noticed a recent trend of the vertical color on the island matching the vertical color on the splashback. Liking that trend. So I would say go with the turquoise glass splash back color. Deepen it a little so the hue is closer to that of the floor. Cant tell from pic whether island cupboards are the same color as cupboards above the splashback. If they are, all the better. That then brings the turquoise/white combo forward into the room and gives some unity....See MoreCooktop in island bench good for social interaction?
Comments (50)I'm about to put a cooktop on the 2.3 x 900 peninsular (island with only one free end ( in my new galley kitchen. I am using an induction top so it can be fitted flush with the benchtop surface, allowing me to use the whole area as benchtop when not in use. I intend to have bar stolls on the living room side for entertaining. My joiner has suggested making a beautiful, thin timbercover to go over the glass induction surface for added protection. I just need to decide on down draft induction hob or a ceiling casette. My main aim is to remove the smelly cooking smells from my unit. The smell from one evening of cooking indian chicken curry currently lasts at least a week! Any advice?...See MoreSmall sink in island bench - yes or no?
Comments (9)I personally would hate to do all my hand washing-up in a butlers pantry staring at a wall. Also think about when you cook pasta- big heavy pot of water being walked from sink in butler pantry to your hob. Probably not ideal. So to answer your question- yes, I'd have the sink in the island. Without seeing your plan to know things like size and ventilation. I wouldn't put my oven in a confined space. Especially if that confined space is for storage of consumables. The oven will warm that room up and cause food to spoil quicker. Not to mention make it uncomfortable to do all your cleanup later. I wish I had space for a butlers pantry in the house we are renovating. If I did, I'd be using it as a walk-in pantry with the secondary sink (main out in the kitchen) and all the minor kitchen appliances that can then remain out on the bench, but hidden away. Toaster, blender, electric kettle, etc. I'd have all main/fixed appliances out in the kitchen....See MoreHelp with changing the island bench
Comments (11)it should be quite easy to change the size of the base cabinets to create knee space..usually about 30cms deep...i would expect a deeper counter would be the easiest (but a bigger piece of stone may be challenging and you might have to consider an alternative counter material) so consult a kitchen cabinet maker for specific advice and quotes and they should be able to reuse the existing sink, taps, doors and some or all of the cabinets for two options : a new smaller base cabinet or a deeper counter so ask for quotes on both options but first line up some chairs to decide if the bigger counter is comfortable in your room...See MoreVy
