Before replacing your curtains as this can be quite expensive for such a large window, if they are in good condition, add a band of extra fabric to the bottom in what ever suits you, your existing curtain track can then be moved up to the ceiling for good looking full length curtains without the large round eyelets, could save you a lot of money, I would look at replacing/removing the sheers cheers

Yes Yes Yes..... As Good as it Gets.... has the best kitchen. I remember watching it, and kept going back, just to see the kitchen. Actually the whole house was just the best PLUS a great movie to. I ended up buying the dvd just to keep reminding me how good the kitchen looks. I'm in a confused mind as to weither I paint my kitchen cupboards or change the benchtop. Thanks Margot. I think I've more or less got it sorted. The only challenge remaining, I think, is finding a way to give it a visual lift. It currently has floor to ceiling tiles in a standard size, square, and a very uninteresting colour with no texture - but in very good order. Very dull! I hate grout in showers so I'm thinking maybe some Mr Wetwall panelling or something similar over the tiles in the shower and on the new wall formed by moving the linen cpd, plus on a part wall along the long side of the shower to replace the glass screens that I insist must go (I'm a lazy cleaner and I hate cleaning glass!) Hopefully that would be enough to relieve the dullness of the existing tiles. Then some feature shelving over the new bath tub perhaps. Not yet decided whether to install a freestanding back-to-wall bath or a drop-in, but the latter might provide scope for some more feature tiling or panelling around it. I want to open the room directly to the outdoors but the current window opening is only 1200mm wide and the wall is 8 inches of solid concrete - not easy to cut to enlarge the opening - so I'm looking at either a hinged door with window inset into it or a standard size glass swing door with a narrow window beside for ventilation. My other challenge is doors for the relocated linen cpd, as the existing mirror doors have got to go! I loathe them. As the cpd will be visible from the living area, it needs stylish doors.

custom made vanity and wall cabinets should only be needed if you have awkward sizes as an off the shelf cabinet allows you to see and touch the product and is often much more economical than custom made ...unless you need to keep some special supplies (eg 24 pack of toilet rolls?) i suggest that a base cabinet need only be 450-500 deep which is plenty for folded towels and drawers and the in wall cabinet about 150mm deep (including most of the cabinet inside the wall and only a small frame for doors and mirrors projecting out) but the in wall cabinet may depend on existing wall studs and electrical wiring so think about what you would put inside the cabinets and only have enough inside cabinet space for those items (maximum toilet roll or fat shampoo bottle about 120mm...in small bathrooms the extra floor space makes drying and dresssing much more comfortable and by rotating the shower in the family bathroom there would be less wet floor in the walkway and if the vanity in the ensuite is away from the corner you can allow space for a handtowel and/or a very convenient space to hang a hair dryer ...
